If your car got hydraulic drum brakes on rear you plug in hydraulic handbrake and in theory it should work - if there are strong enough to lock wheels. On the other hand you should upgrade to disc if you really want to drift. That's my opinion.
Dont mean to be mean at xmass but thats not ture wot your saying, hydraulic hadbrake will work very well with drum brakes, you dont need to upgrade to disc to drift that is bullsh1t!, i wish that only people that have worked on cars or know wot there talking about would give advice and not just wot pep's dream up or read from some one eles thats talking sh1t!

For the 86 guys over here they prefer the drums for the rear for drift. I've slid with both and also prefer drum. They instantly lock up, where with disk you gotta pull the shit out of it to get it to lock up.
So may I ask why? I have an E36 and wanna get the hydraulic handbrake on it but why are E36-s bad for it like some are saying here? Just so I could gather more information cuz right now with my regular handbrake my wheels lock up perfectly.
So what I'm working with is a 09 Tacoma xrunner And I think I understand the original point that's trying to be made here as I'm struggling to wrap my head around the same thang. My truck has rear drums and quite honestly if I can leave them I'm 100% good with that however is it possible to hook up the hydro handbrake without disabling my rear brakes from still working when I step on the brake pedal. Just tap into the rear brake line and fit the hydro there. This will allow both footbrake and hydro. Don't forget to disable any rear brake limiting valve that is fitted after the hydro. Drum brakes are actually more effective as they have a self servo action, the shoes push out as the wheel turns. They might overheat with constant use though.
