Apologies, as I know this has been covered before, but I'm getting a little confused (doesn't take a lot). Swaying towards a TD05 on my RB20. Does anyone know or have any experience on which would be the most suitable between the 16g, 18g or 20g etc and why? I've also heard the 8cm would be the best size to go for? If anyone has any figures for any of these, that would be great. Aiming for anywhere around 350 - 400bhp Cheers Steve
A 16g td05 will do over 300 wheel horsepower, a 20g td06 will do considerably more but with a significant loss of response (which isn't an rb20 strong point to begin with). Imo a 16g td05 (8cm turbine housing and big compressor cover) is one of the best matches for a street rb20. Edit: 350-400 @ engine or wheels? If wheels then td06sl2 20g as above, if engine then td05 16g.
Thanks for the reply guys! Would probably be at the Flywheel, as it'll be a standard bottom end and don't want to push it too much. Want to start drifting it too, so ideally don't want it to be too laggy as it'll probably be rather awkward to get to grips with as I'm not very good haha. Think It'll be the TD05-16g, can always move on from there! Cheers guys
Use a TD05Hr 16G from an Evo.. fantastic 300-350+hp turbo on a 2L with mega spool. They are also cheap, bullet proof and easily upgradeable. Just need someone to fab you/modify a manifold
Cheers buddy, think that'll definitely be the way to go. Struggling to find any decent manifolds, so would go for a custom one anyway
Bringing this up cause I cant seem to find information regarding the fitment of an TD05 on a RB20. Obviously its a T28 flange okay. But Will it fit on a standard exhaust manifold with bottom mount turbo position using a T3 to T28 adaptor? What turbo elbow will I need to make it bolt onto the standard downpipe? Thanks
td05's don't have a t28 flange... Kinugawa sell t3 flanged exhaust housings to suit td05's (in several sizes and internal or external gate versions)
Does anybody know where to buy an internal gated TD05? I dont really wanna mess aroound with custom fabrication for an external wastegate
