Confirmed as you can see the ebay adaptor are crappy the hole don't even come close. I bought this in 2012 in advance to the 1jz conversion project. Now have to go for the ABC Clutch kit.
are there any updates regarding the bmw box on the 1jz? i can get the box flywheel and clutch on the engine but i have the issue of input shaft not reaching where it should.. cheers
Will this not make it quite weak where it bolts on? How about spacing the flywheel to match the adaptor plate? Has anyone done this
Hello everyone! Flywheel from BMW set bolt-on to the crankshaft JZ, but not necessary to change the ring gear for the starter. I set the box GS5-39DZ ZF (E39 M57 530). The flywheel of the engine rises M30 bolt-on. If you use a flywheel from the M20 it is necessary to change the ring gear. p.s .: Sorry for my english ... ( p.p.s: posted to foto..no have not figured out how to do this on your forum ...
I don't normally resurrect ancient threads but wondering if this has progressed at all? I see the ABC kit but is there another way?
Im putting a 1jz into my e36 bought an auto soarer yesterday , was told the bmw flywheel is the same centre bore and pcd as the 1jz crank, i was thinking about getting a spacer plate made for the the flywheel but the next issue is starter
Hi, I'm doing a e36 1jz conversion, also need info about the gearbox! Another question, if we use the e36 gearbox the ebay swap mounts for the e36 will work fine? or have different distances?
Just came across this post as I just got a soarer to steel the jz for my s13 and I'm confused bmw flywheels fit the crank bolts etc but are there any that don't need spacing ? And if they do were can you get spacers and which box is it that's actually worth having cheers
It can be done. Need bellhousing for 1j and the needed bearing has 32mm in diameter, 15mm inner diameter and 15mm thickness. Alse need custom bolts to fit the 1j crank (10 mm) and the bmw flywheel (12mm).i used the bmw bolts and machined about half to 10 mm with 1.25 thread type.
Has anyone used the PMC motorsports adapter kit? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=181907114275&alt=web Above is the link to just the adapter plate but they also sell a flywheel which allows you to run any 240mm bmw clutch all for under £500 delivered. https://m.facebook.com/pmcmotorsportcom/ I've messaged them to ask about fitment and they assured me I'd have no issues which sounds promising, thanks.
Their FB seems promising! I don't think you're that far off of the ABC kits when you've added the clutch? I've come across a few other people also mentioning that you can use a m30 flywheel (from the old 3.5L I6 BMW engines), could be a relatively cheap solution then.
Quick bump because i'm also considering using the box from a 530D. The GS5-39DZ was used in a range of models, specifically: GS5-39 DZ-THBM Fra 330 D E46 GS5-39 DZ-THBL Fra 320 D E46 GS5-39 DZ-THBC Fra 330 D E46/ 530D E39 GS5-39 DZ-THBG Fra 530 D E39 GS5-39 DZ-THBK Fra 525 D E39/ 330D E46 Now how can one identify each box? Anybody perhaps know the corresponding ZF numbers (which are cast on the housing)
first off all sorry for my English i bought this kit and it fit my Rmfd-5 speed gearbox S5D 250G - TBDH with zero modification really amazing, weak transmission but im planning to get the GS6-53DZ even though i have to import this transmission still cheaper than r154 regarding clutch any 240 mm clutch will fit the custom flywheel i will post my project soon i have many photo but i dont know how to post it {}
Hi, Im in the middle of doing a 1jz rx7 fd swap, i am going to be running the 328i zf gearbox, did you find the PMC adaptor kit to easy to use? They seem to be the cheapest on the market i can get a sinple plate m5 clutch setup to run for less than £800 which seems amazing from a price point. Thanks
