    What's up fellow petrolheads?
I am soon to be 18 and there's quite a big chance that i'll move to the UK but of course i can't just leave my life dailying and drifting my E30 and go to the UK for public transportation lol
So i'll need to own a racecar.
Unfortunately i will only be 18 years old with an international license i assume?
Any ideas would be highly appreciated

Small, light and cheap is what you need and just strip it.

Turbo bolted onto an MX5 will rinse you on insurance at 18.

BMW 319ti. Plenty capable as the little AE36 trend catches on.

Looks like it's gonna be a tough challenge catching up with drifting competitions and stuff.
    I don't think a 319i would make it
I have a 328i and i have to push it hard through the long drifts already lol

You just have to accept you're going to get hammered no matter what you get.
An MX5 or a Beemer would probably be insurable, but I dunno what an 18 year old would pay on one - near £2000 a year??

What if i keep it as a track car and tow it everywhere?
But if that's the way it's gonna go i'll need a car and a trailer.
Any idea about how much to insure the cheapest car and trailer and what would it be??

This could go on for some time....

A tow vehicle powerful/big enough to pull a car on a trailer will have a big engine, so you will get high insurance. If you want a head start, live in the middle of nowhere rather than a big city. Crime rate make a big difference to car insurance.

Back when I was 18 (5 years ago) I was looking at over £2k to insure a 1l micra..
But then 2.5 years ago, at 19, It was £700ish for a 1.2clio, or £860 for an RX8

I suspected you might be coming here to study. To have a track car you have to have it stored off the road, which means a driveway (probably wont have one of those at uni) or a garage (probably wont have that either).

Sorry mate, gotta make some sacrifices for our education. Like enormous financial ones because it costs so much lol.

Everything is expensive to drive when you're 18.

I doubt you'll be allowed to tow on an Egyptian licence.

You're also only allowed to drive for 12 months on your current licence, then you'll need to apply for a British one.

Holding a foreign licence will affect your insurance costs, as they base their premiums on perceived risk, and you are considered to be at a higher risk of making a claim if you are not experienced on UK roads.

Also many well-known insurers will ignore any no-claims years gained on your foreign licence.

I think there are some insurer's that specialize in foreign drivers, but not sure what their opinions on race cars is.

The only problem with towing as the above guys stated is that your going to need somewhere to store the car (off road) and pass the test to tow a car (may need a UK license to do this). :(

At 18 I was paying £1,200 to insure a 1.4 Fiat Punto, we have all been spanked by it. :wack:

No, every 18 year old in the country has played this game for the last 30 years or so.

You're not the first to try and drive a fast car at a young age, it just doesn't happen over here without paying 'the man'
