    What's up guys,

So I'm going to be getting my first car soon after doing some research. I'm wondering what cheap options are out there for a 30 year old new driver.

All of the cars that I would want are a bit out of my prices I would think in terms of insurance!

Start by looking for cars in your prices

That's the problem, I could afford the cars I want - I.e. s13, ae86, r32 etc but I wouldn't get insurance on them as a first car - although I'm not sure, as at 30 I guess I wouldn't be considered as big a risk as an 18 year old for example

Something cheap and cheerful to do you fore a couple of years til your insurance sorts itself out.

E36 or E46 BMW (318is or something along those lines), MX5, even an old volvo. Once you have a bit of experience driving you can slap coilovers in it and get the welder out.

I'm 33, full no claims and pay £750 for insurance for a 172 Clio, £320 tax too.

So get insurance quotes on the cars you want? 5 minute call to Sky or Flux on something in the ballpark to what you want will give you an idea of affordability.

Also, where you live probably has a much greater bearing on what you pay for insurance at your (our lol) age
