Finally put on the shroud and sorted out the cooling issues, definitely do need to change the radiator to a jzx100 one to fit properly without zipties. {}
After rigging up the shroud and re-bleeding the system, it was time to take it on a drive through some hills in the heat of day. Needless to say, found a few boost leaks with the crappy clamps I had re-used and other than that the temperature stayed dead on where it should, did not climb even in 36* heat with some pretty prolonged pulls up hills. {} Finally got around to cleaning up the garage area, put together a tool box with(out) the help of Toby.. {} {}
Test 245's on the front, since they did not clear the guards in the rear at my height. However, it scrubs on inner wheel well plastics on full lock so will have to step it down to a 235/40/18 AD08's {} Finished off the old bald pirelli rear tires, and got the guards pumped to fit the new tire size at the same height with some fresh 245/40/18s going up from 225/40/18s Got the guards pumped in the rear. Before - {} After {} {} Unfortunately very limited in toe adjustment due to factory arms, so I am unable to pull the camber out of the rear for the time being. Ultimately the plan is to put some camber and traction arms in so I can get the wheel as close to the guard and camber as close to zero as I can, which is currently at 2.5 degrees. Lowered it back down, coilovers maxed low on bottom base mount. {} De-cluttered the lot. {}
Loving the fitment now it looks spot on! Have to say I think it looks loads better without the gold strips and the splitters on the side of the bumper. Looks ace in that last picture
So its been awhile, the jzx100 has gone to a good home! Now we open the new chapter of our JZX110 Mark II IRV 2001! Current Spec Tein Coilovers Greddy FMIC Full Stainless Exhaust with twin exit rear. Aftermarket Stainless Downpipe. R154 Swapped LSD Differential. ?? Clutch Single Turbo CT15B Pumped and Rolled Guards. Apexi AFM Intake Kit (with filter) {} {} Straight away started to strip and tidy up everything that was loose ends from previous owner. {} Decided to repaint my rocker covers with wrinkle while I was at it. {} Had a buddy come out to do my headlights with all his detailing gear turned out like new! {} {}
Minor update, I elected to clean all of today to prep the front end for minor touch up respray. Here are a few more photos from prior to picking the car up. {} {} {} Started with tearing down the front end further to get underneath the guards and every area that I couldn't get to. The car had seen the track shortly before I got a hold of it, so I have found an immense amount of stones and dirt in every crevice including the front chassis rails and rear bumper. {} {} {} {} {} If you ever need an extremely good cleaning product.. use shift it . {} Took several hours to truck through thoroughly... dirt just came from everywhere.. {} Made a slight break to finish piping in black wrinkle. {} Tidied up the wiring and ran it through away from the wheels. Very nice that 110's don't have the loom running anywhere near the inner arches. {} And finished off the rest of the piping along with putting the covers through another heat cycle. {} I have ordered a new windscreen since this one is cracked... you would literally fall over where you are standing if you found out how much they freakin are to replace... {}
Got the prep done and started the tidy up. Jzx100 gearbox is a touch high up into the tunnel. {} This is primarily the issue as far as I can see where it is a touch higher than normal. {} I got a universal gearbox boot and cut some thick rubber as a underlay. {} Still have to add a frame to the top portion, but you get the idea. {} Ordered a reo from a guy in SA, since mine is cut. {} Ordered a centre console going to take awhile, coming via japan. {} It was time to spray the bay. {} Etch primed {} {} Base Prime Coat. {} {} Colour code {} Base coat 1/2 {} Base coat 2/2 {} {} {} {}
Minor update, Finished up a few more coats of clear and let that bake for a few days leading up to the weekend. {} {} Started to mock u piping {} Picked up a new Aeroflow cooler instead of the banger older series Greddy {} Made some mounts, still yet to finish up top half including the centre support. {} Pulled the car and took it for a small drive to test everything, still had a exhaust leak where the downpipe meets the mid pipe. {} Pretty filthy {} HID's working, passenger parker out {} {} Pretty happy with the overall progress so far. {} Little comparison of before and after. Still waiting on my massive filter from Aeroflow and centre cover! should be rad. {} Aftermarket downpipe. {} {} Old vs New {} Waiting on new reo, windscreen to go, and to reassemble the rear end and its basically ready to go! {}
Congratulations on the new pickup! I’m thinking about getting a 110 myself (toss up with that or a four door 34). Im all in to see what you have planned for this!
Thanks EMAGDNIM, after getting a 110 and seeing it up close and personal I really do like them! Prior to that however I didn't really 'love' the shape too much. Ended up ordering a few things, and my filter arrived, to replace the really past its use by date apexi. I did however want to retain the Apexi housing for the AFM since I think its rad and much better than the plastic OEM. {} Started to mock up piping to get an idea as to how I can place it with retaining the factory compressor pipe. {} Once the joiners and piping i ordered rock up, I will get a better idea as to how I can tilt it and face it away from the centre. {}
Was a touch nerve wrecking considering I ordered a windscreen which was a very big 'maybe' turned out a lot cheaper than genuine, considering there was only one in Australia via Toyota. {} The guys cleaned up the channels and repaired two rust spots that were not visible unless you remove the windscreen and put a new strip all the way around with square edges,so it looks extremely tidy! Couldn't be happier. {} {} Front Reo turned up to replace the cut reo since the new intercooler is now much better mounted than the greddy, despite being thicker by another '25mm'. {} Wive's soarer had a HKS mushroom, although genuine... we all know what happens to mushrooms when they age. {} Same filter that is going on my jzx, fit nicely and breathes well by Aeroflow. {} Cleaned up the garage and repositioned the cars to park the JZX in to be able to put it on jack stands to start on the strip down! {}
So wasn't overly ecstatic with the fact that I have the Apexi piece for the MAF, since now that I am not running an Apexi filter it is useless. So I did some 'adjustment' and got it sitting away from the radiator. {} Ended up cutting the flange off. {} Mocked up the piping and cut a piece off as well as cut back the piping and silicone joiners to be minimal. {} Got it angled well. {}
Looking good, I've been debating painting my vvti rocker covers in wrinkle red for a while, this has made my mind up, looks great.
Red is definitely the go! Plus red things go faster Finished up the lower brackets and moved onto the top half. {} Tested a mock up. {} Started to bend some brackets and drilled a few holes. {} Test fit {} {} {} Wrinkled! {} Finished rear reo as well. {} Now the long wait for my bodykit to arrive.........! {}
So things are slowwww, waiting for parts sucksss. Finally picked up the front lip, genuine BN via Dorijunkie. Couldn't fit all the others in the wives car even if I tried. {} Started to mock up the fit. {} Started to trim up the lower pieces, fitment wasn't the "best" I am unsure of whether it was for a different series possibly withing the jzx110 series. {} Diggin the look! {} Still need to clearance the piping after making clearance for the cooler. {} Centre console trim arrived, really happy to have this piece to complete my interior! {} Picked up a cover for the 1j, unsure if I want to cut and remove the top half and keep the rockers exposed or not...hmm {} Tomorrow going to finish off trimming the bar tomorrow Keen to get the skirts on to get it looking fattttttty. {}
Decided to finish up the top half and decided to do a S2000 style~! funnily kind of unintentional. {} {} Wrinkle is amazing~! {} {} Without cover {} With cover {} Still lots to do before all my other parts arrive, but slowly finishing off in stages.
Excellent write up on your 110 dude! Enjoyable reading about the progress etc I bought mine last year and love it, I'll start writing a build thread at some point, always a good read
You've had some really nice builds. Like how you pay so much attention to detail. What has become of the jzx110? I have one as well and this inspires me to keep working on it lol
