I'm putting new valve stem seals into my 1jz vvti without removing the head if I don't have too. It's not in the car, it's just the bare block and head. While putting air to the cylinders I'm getting air coming out the intake ports, a little coming out the exhaust ports. Just wondering if this is normal or if I need a valve job. Any help is appreciated.

Use a soft nylon rope. Works a treat.

Cant answer the valve bit. Wouldn't like to give miss information.

Yea the seal part I can handle using whatever I have to, but if I do the work and it still needs a valve job what's the point?
