Can anyone help me please I've got an s reg 318 with a 328 engine transplant. It's been working fine and bouncing off the limiter now suddenly it will not rev past 56-700 rpm! Thanks
Friend had a similar problem with an 18is conversion he said there's too much airflow through the exhaust, engine requires back pressure to function correctly. I think his hit the limiter at the same point. Good luck
had this problem recently where mine would only go to 5.5k turned out to be the rear speed sensor! it sends a signal to the abs and that sends a signal to the ecu. if the ecu doesnt get the correct reading it lowers the rev limit. normally kicks in a fault for vehicle speed in the ecu
Had the same problem with the old 320. It will be one of the rear ABS sensors mate. You could pull your ABS relays, see if that sorts it.
Right finally got to the bottom of it. After rebuilding the vanos with new seals it still didn't work, and turned out to be a lack of speed signal to the ecu I bridged pin 15 ecu to pin 2 blue plug back of dash after speaking to someone who had a similar problem and it now revs freely, just in time for wheels tomorrow!!!!
this happens to almost every engine swap lol, and when you pull the fuse to abs, ive ran the same bypass wire on every conversion ive done, gay ecu's
Yeah had the same problem on all 3 compact 2.8 conversions iv done and just did the wire from back of clocks to ecu trick, also if you splice the wires for the rear offside abs sensor into the diff sensor wiring under the back seats works too
