Hi All I have just changed the clutch slave cylinder on my 318is with a brand new one and fully bled it using a power bleeder type tool that uses pressure from a wheel and tyre to bleed the system. I then pumped the clutch pedal to test to make sure all was as it should be, at that point i heard a weird squelch and fluid started to drip from the the drainage holes on the gear box. So i whipped off the slave cylinder to see the boot that goes round the rod had a massive split in it. So i'm now starting to wonder what would cause a brand spanking new slave cylinder to shit its pants like this. Is it something im doing wrong during the install? Have i been sold a duff part or is it some issue im unaware of? Any help would be really appreciated Cheers Dale
Maybe you just caught the boot when fitting it. Fluid shouldn't leak out past the piston anyway, even if there was no boot there. I'd take it back and get them to replace it.
