Still think your engine is / was breathing too heavy. My VVT cam cover cannot stop my dipstick blowing out, no matter how much oil it retains.
I blocked the rear half of my t out and run seperate lines for rocker cover and block to a vented catch can and i rarely fill it but it does need a bigger vent tbh and i think ur talkinv alot of sence but i also dont like the idea of oil and warm air beinb put into my engine lol i think long lines and catch can aa far from engine helo tbh also i think having the vents on the side of the rockee sucks as i put more oil in the catch can on right hand bend tracks lol btw cool thread and had my setup for 3yrs now
possibly so but again when my catch can filled up it affectivly blocked all breathers, ie the block and head vented threw the T to the catch can so when the oil got to a level where it was over the pipe coming in from the T the pressure had nowhere to go so took the easiest route out of the engine which was dipstic. every sr in the world, weather its standard or full built engine if the breathers are blocked they will put the dipstick out. i only wish when my car got mapped that i got a power reading so i could compare before and after but its not accurate enough as she kept spinning on the rollers
Well that makes more sense now. You need to make some kind of separator or get a massive catch can or vent to air. So with that amount of oil blasting out of the sump your engine failure is prob down to oil starvation do you think? Interested to see how much retrodan's blows out of the sump breather ^^.
what youve just done is told people to introduce unmetered air on part throttle via the none mention of the PCV valve.. ooopsy.
holy thread revival batman! said i would report back when i had run my settup for a while. ran the car with fully built engine with cams at 1.5 bar all last season, empied the catch tank once and removed approx 1 shot glass of water (water vapour). engine is noticable more revy that other similar cars not running pcv and sounds sharper if that makes sence? anyway heres a wee vid to let you hear it, doesnt sound like other sr20s imo @2.30
Can I bump this up to see if anyone has any more definate answers? I am looking for a good set-up to run on my straightcam in my R32.
billy!! the t piece on the side black the rear half off, the front half run that to a catch tank! the one that comes up from the crankcase run that round behind the engine and into the same catch can, which is vented to atmospher!! i did this for 3 yrs at alot more power and higher rpm than ur average driftcar/sr and only would put a 1/4 of a 1ltr cans worth of oil in over a good few hard used events!!! so yeah this way as i said!!!
