Went to check the time on my phone and it's dead. No amount of pressing buttons and shouting at it will make it work, nor removing the sim card or trying to charge it or attach it to the computer. Is it a case of taking it to the Vodafone shop in town and losing it for a couple of weeks or does anyone have any suggestions on how to make it work again? Spent all day tidying my MX5 up for sale and taking pics and they're all on that phone. Bonus.
Get straight to the apple shop assuming its under warranty, zero mucking about that way with sending it off etc. Friend has been through seven in 2 years and the apple shop was always the route of least resistance regarding replacements. The majority of mobile providers hand off responsibility for the handset to Apple after seven days anyway. (due to v4 being a mess).
Even though I got it through Vodafone? Do I just take my contract/receipt/paperwork? Assume warranty is a year?
The warranty is a year. And they should be able to track it by it's serial number. Just watch in the apple store they don't try and claim "water damage" and void your warranty. Is the phone insured?
No need for any paper work mate, just rock up and tell um it's jest died! Simples! Warrant is 12 months but they should stretch to 28 says over that due to being the absolute dogs bollocks!
The phone is insured, something like £12 a month I don't think it's water damage unless I pissed myself and it ran up to the breast pocket of my overalls in the half hour or so since I previously looked at it
I know you said this but I wanted to check, have you tried holding down the power and main button on the front at the same for about 20 seconds? I had the same issue, until I was told this which reset's it, however you don't lose any data. Could be worth a try if you haven't already
There are little things in the headphone jack and the connector at the bottom that turn red if they're so much as breathed on (so to speak). The bottom button broke on my old phone after two months. I went to apple and they said because of this they couldn't repair it, but the guy asked was it insured. It was so I was advised to have an "accident" on the way home. Apples your best bet mate, because they may be able to recover all the data off the phone too
u held the round button at the bottom and the lil one at the top at the same time for a while ? mine used to freeze and die all the time but just holding both at the same time resets it and turns back on that or charge it
That happened to me once. Ok, twice. Anyway, if your battery is properly dead then when you plug it in, it will appear to be doing nothing. You need to leave it plugged in and eventually it will buzz and turn itself back on. I'd do this first.
if its dead dead , sometimes takes a little while to charge. worth connecting to itunes do see if its in restore mode.
Dont worry mines done this about 4 times now since April. It works fine, then turns off.. and wont do a thing in the charger or anything with button combo's or nothing.. it has eventually turned on after a few hours. For example i was going to knockhill.. it died 10minutes from being there, drove on track all day and it turned on 5 minutes from leaving knockhill.. and it was on charge for hours but meant nothing. Leave it over night plugged in and see what happens in a few hours
Right, I charged it this morning and when it stopped working this afternoon I tried the charger and connecting it to iTunes and also pressing both buttons at the same time for a while. Anyway, took it to town to find that the shop that sells nothing but Apple products isn't actually an Apple store and the nearest one is in Leicester I think (couldn't really understand the bloke in the shop), so I went to the Vodafone shop and left it there, where they'll probably say it was water damaged and charge me an excess on my rape insurance.
