Matt, so close, will nail it next time i am sure,
having been lucky anough to drive this car at Mallory i can confirm it sounds, looks and drives as good as it looks in the pics, super charger takes some getting used to but the whole car is just so smooth:thumbs:
a masterfull effort in the build has produced a stunning car, WE WILL see more in 2011:thumbs:

    Hi Matt

I'm really impressed with what you've done with your 330!

I've just got one myself and have been looking into diffs. Wavetrack have just released one for the E46. It's not advertised here yet but I've seen it in the States:

    WAVETRAC DIFFERENTIAL BMW E46/E87/E90 188K i=3.15>

I've no idea whether they're as good KAAZ. Have you looked into them?

Regarding throttle response, have you found the classic BMW throttle by wire delay a problem when drifting? Did the supercharger improve the throttle response?

    Cheers

    Jon

I have read a bit about the wavetrac but there is no UK dealer as far as I can see. I made a decision recently to make it a little easier and give me more options by buying the back end out of a E46 M3 it also has a better ratio on the diff which is a good start, it's not fitted yet but should be after christmas.

The fly by wire throttle does OK but is not really the same as having a proper throttle body. The lag is terrible with supercharger but you only notice as you pull off as the rest of the time i'm quite flat out so it doesn't cause much problem.

I'm starting to think V8 is the way forward.......

Cheers Matt for the info on the Wavetrac Diff. I think you're making a sensible move going for an M3 diff. I watched an E46 M3 drift at Silverstone 6 years ago and both of its rears spun up beautifully in the dry and the car was totally standard.

    Cheers

Great article, nice to see drifting and BDC is non jap or non chav mags as well.

Have you done much to the lock and steering on the car? also if it's any help someone brought a new M3 to DWYB last year when I was helping out and the diff was an absolute dream. The car genuinely could have gone straight into a comp and performed. Maybe it would have needed some more lock or suspension at higher speeds but not something you can tell at Pod! One of my favourite cars I've driven for all round flexibility.

what can I say.... - this project is really great. congrats

I have one question, because I did not find the description. how did You increase turn? how do you Obtain a larger deflection of the wheel? Whether it was original?
I mean that the factory turning circle is too big for this sport

    sorry for my rusty language.

I had a friend of mine (Nathan @ GDA) make some lock spacers but you don't get too much extra on the E46 rack so I will be modding the hubs soon to get more lock as I quite often run out!

You can definatly get 400 rwhp from the 330ci 3.0L with a stage 2 superchager setup.

    Hi matt

    awesome car :)
are you still running the stock clutch?
im building a 323i and im just wandering how the clutch will hold up...

also have you considered an ESS supercharger? its a twin screw so will make the car very controllable because it can boost evenly over the entire rev range

You will have a 5 speed box which has a differant clutch and flywheel to mine, but there is quite a lot out there for that. I had a custom light weight single mass flywheel made and got a solid paddle clutch so it was a bit more aggresive.

I had one in for nearly a year and the thing still looks like new, it was just the cover was giving up and not clamping hard enough.
