    my car isnt ready

no time to practice as judged runs start at 10am, the mx5 has coilies and a welded diff, the handbrake doesnt lock.

    please give me some pointers.
is there anything i can do easily to make the handbrake usable?

i guess i just need to go flat out with big flicks and clutch kicks?

    and hope its wet!!!

Why do you want a locking handbrake?

My advice: go really, really fast. Then a bit faster :wack:

I've not drifted an MX5 but it doesnt strike me as a handbrake sort of car!!! Lots of manfoot and dab of the footbrake to get you slowing down into corners.

    good luck!

+1 to what Lozza said. My old MX had an open diff/standard suspension and no handbrake and plenty of man foot worked fine :) With a bit of a flick added into the entry on south bank (First bend at Teesside)

Thanks peeps, it did have an LSD but it blew up and all I could get hold of was a welder lol. Pretty lucky Haha.

Iam hoping its wet :wack: Iam used to and probably reliant on my hydro in the s13. It's a good chance to try something different but with no practice time Iam slightly concerned

Get off Driftworks and go and drive it.

Also, remove the handbrake from your S13 until you can drive without it, handbrake reliance sucks anus.

I see people regularly who make a mistake, then can ONLY initiate again with a wand tweak. Possibly the most depressing thing in the world.

Flat out, mega speed and momentum, don't see the throttle as a "drift button" as it won't do anything, just keep it flat and use clutch kicks to give more power. To scrub off speed, shift lock the sucker with a huge flick and straight back on the power. Don't get too much angle or you'll slow down.

As Bon said, go and drive it.

As the above have said really. Loads of speed. Hard flick, clutch kick to keep her going. Footbrake to tighten your line up, I loved drifting mine. Defo don't need a handbrake. its all about keeping the momentum up, enter fast and stay pinned.

He has driven it lots but he is too much of a drama queen :D

Kev seriously STOP worrying, even my misses said you worry too much about drifting. You have virtually qualified for Mallory now anyway so just go up there and treat it as a normal practice day and have some fun learning in a different car

When you get it right with low powahs it is such a satisfying feeling.

dude all u need to do is go in fast and come out slow.. You need alot of dedication to skid underpowered grippy cars . Oh and abuse the shit out of the clutch midway round the corner

Remove all cuddly toys, copies of OK mgazine, dodgy sunglasses, empty tampax boxes, "little princess on board" sticker, traces of eye makeup on the steering wheel and flat shoes in the footwell. and you are good to go!

I forgot to mention Michael Bublé CDs, bunches or random keys, Price tags from NEXT, phone charger, hair straightners, hand bags and empty smirnoff ice bottles.

i drive an s body so i cant help but be a bit of a faggy wand user lol
