Big update then guys, went to Awesomefest, had an Awesome time! Haha, yeah. No seriously, was a great weekend. Loaded the car up the day before and hit the road on Friday midday with Hudson, Adam etc. Drive up was painless, arrived and setup camp. Slept like shit! I had x3 track session on Sat and Sunday, so 90 mins total skid time. Was ready to rock!! Put my shitty skid wheels on, made my car look like aids. Really need to get decent skid wheels. Looks alright sideways though. And when you can't see the those rear wheels! Went out on my first sesh, got myself too familiar with Mallory too quickly I think. 2nd lap in, did a dirty clutch kit in 3rd and hit the travel at the JC esses. Could barely open the door was so deep in travel, and the guys had to pull me out. Was really pissed off at myself, basically screwed my car on the 2nd lap of the weekend. Finished off that session, then had a look at the damage. Surprisingly, wasn't actually that bad. Also I had about 3 hours until my next sesh, so had time to fix it up. The bumper is 95% untouched, really impressed how well the bumper withstood the impact, since I think I was doing 80+ when I hit the gravel! The splitter, however, was split into 3 bits. Also you can see from the pics that the bumper is sagging loads now. That's due to the bumper support brackets at the top, actually snapped. Goes to show the metal on the car is weaker than the FRP bumper!! Impressive. Anyway, some cable ties later. Still AID's like, but it did. Hit up good runs for the rest of the day on Sat, albeit not going totally mental after my off. Had a great time that night, got tipsy and headed to the top tent, great time. Was determined to do a lot better on Sunday, and it started well. I pumped the rear tyres up to 45psi which seemed to help a lot. Also went down to 16s, not sure if this made a different but it felt good. Found a shot of my on Speed Hunters too! Doing my best round Gerard's. Still looks like shit when its skidding due to truly disgusting rear offset, but I'm sorting that - potentially buying another pair of RPF1's from America for drifting. Really started to nail the JC esses toward the end of the day, they are defiantly the most fun corners of the track IMO. Even though I know that travel trap kept haunting me!! Last session out was mental, toward the end I caught up with Hudson & Ed who were on the at the same time and managed to get a bit of a weaksause 3-way train going. Didn't fancy twinning too closely, not worth the risk, but was still loads of fun. Managed to get good video too, cut out some of the crap between corners as its just boring to watch!! The last part of the vid is with the twinning. All in all, awesome weekend! As far as the car goes, very much faultless the entire weekend. I had no issues apart from hitting the gravel. Oh, and the gearbox & engine mounts withstood the abuse nicely too, car felt loads more planted mid corner, and was a lot easier to grab 2nd & 3rd gear mid-drift with the more stable gearbox mounts Couple days later, went out on a tunnel round with a big group. Found it looks pretty good with lazy eye.
Well, finally finally got my mitts on a set of Kouki rear lights for an absolute bargain off of eBay! So pleased with them and the difference to the look of the back from the back now is amazing. The same seller from eBay was also selling a genuine Kouki rear wing which I snapped up too! Anyway, the lights them fitted, looking amazing. Tested with the wing rested on the bootlid. Then went for a drive, cleaned the car, took this. Some of the hawk eyes among you might notice that the center panel is not a genuine Kouki part, it is infact a normal OEM one which someone has cut to fit. However, I am sourcing one of these, again from my trusty FRP/Carbon man - Mr Magic21. Now awaiting spraying of the skirts, Kouki wing, and lower panel.
I knew i recognised this when it was on track at A.F Looked awesome on track, one of my favourites from the weekend easily, keep it up
love the build dude !! just read through the whole thread and i must say did like it better looking ratty and with the SSR wheels !! but still looks sick and that crash at norfolk arena felt a bit gutted for you lol but that was ages ago !! keep it up !!
Hey man car looked cool at afest, some nice pics too. Rear kouki's look sweet really not feeling the rear kouki spoiler though man just takes the low wide look away for me.
looking good man, though not overly keen on the kouki spoiler, they just dont look quite big enough. reckon 326 power spoiler would look mint
Woah sheeeeeeet, been a while since I last read this thread, and it's looking boom ting now! I think the older skirts would work better with the kouki look, not really feeling the current one, it's kinda too curvy if you get me!
Sheeit, keep forgetting to check/update this haha. Thanks to everyone's comments. Was very tempted with Mitto's 326 power wing, indeed, but IMO they're slightly too big. I know what you mean about the Kouki wing being a touch too small, but I find the 326 a bit too big. Something in the middle would be ideal. Anyway got the kouki wing, lower panel & skirts all sprayed & fitted. Day later, got a badass twin shotgun exhaust made up. Actually sounds really good considering its a blacktop VVT SR. Couple more shots > on my blog.
Thanks everyone. Got the front/rear bumper, splitter & spats from Magic21, top quality stuff and cheaper than the genuine stuff. Also great to know its replaceable lol! Haven't done anything to it in ages now, haven't really even driven it since AF, but went out the other night, still awesome to drive. Missed driving it a bit actually. Probably going on a drift day next month now, need to skid again.
