Anyone else got it to work? My phone is in a state of limbo, can't restore it or update it, its like its blank Just wanted to see if i was the only person with a problem.. I'm sure i will be.. lol.
I've spoken to 3 people now.. There phones have gone into pre-installation mode where it shows the USB cable telling you to plug it into iTunes... My advice to anyone not done it yet.... DONT DO IT!! I can't use my phone!!!
It tells me I need to restore, then when I try to it down loads the file then does nothing with it???
Yeah, Same here, Only option I can click is "restore and update" and it crashes everytime.... I don't dare try to reinstall itunes because i may loose everything, my only hope is i've not lost 3 years worth of data and phone numbers as i will neverever use a iphone again! This couldn't have happend to a worse time for me, first i upgrade my computer at work, that crashed today and had to reinstall everything loosing like 3500 images, then the knowhow teem at pc world decided my keyboard problem required them to fucking wipe my hard drive and now i've lost everything on my iphone.. I actually have in one day lost all data about everything in my world!! Technology sucks!
I've been sitting here since about 9ish trying to get mine to work again So i'm starting to loose hope now! just keep pressing update and restore hoping its going to work then next time
Right, been helping a few peeps on Facebook tonight with this and this is how I sorted mine out. Albeit I never got to the limbo stage, but... Hopefully you've made a full backup? If you've got the Apple logo then just nothing, then you need to go into DFU mode. To do this, while its plugged in and with the Apple logo on show, hold down Power & Home buttons. Keep them held and the iPhone screen will go off. Release Power, keep holding Home. Now just keep holding it for a while... Hopefully, eventually (maybe 15 seconds), a screen will popup with DFU options. It'll enable you to do a full restore on the phone with factory settings to the most recent version of iOS. Do that, it'll take like 20 mins. Once done, you'll have iOS5. Then you'll get an option "Restore from previous backup" Hit that, and you're away. Another 40+ mins of restoring photos, apps, messages, etc. And that should do it.
When I switch the phone on, it has the little apple logo, then goes to the image of the itunes and the usb cable... The method you talked about above doesn't seem to work ?? Any chance of a hand on facebook dude ?
My iphone4 took a good hour to do, had to do a few attempts as error 3200 kept coming up (apple server overload issues) All good now and the update kept my photo's but wiped my apps
My last iOS 4 update did this, lost 4gb of bought music that apple "can't" restore iOS 5 can wait for a bit... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just a small update guys, You'll be experiencing problems with verifying with update with Apple servers due to traffic. Also your ISP's might have throttled back traffic to Apple US servers. I'm on Sky, can't update my iPad now. But at work earlier it seemed alright after a few goes. Work uses a leased business line. Getting a few tweeks & news articles coming through saying stuff simliar to ^ that. Particularly in the UK.
