You'll have to make a manifold anyway?
Loads of room to move the turbo forward!

    Doooo ittttt!

Not done much for a few weeks as I've been busy being made redundant, but on the other hand, being a jobless bum should speed things up a bit.

As you will have read before, the problem was no downpipe would fit, and though an up-pipe and bonnet exit exhaust would work, thats a bit gay, so shit had to be done.

So out came the angle grinder, turning a brand new HX35 turbine housing from this-
    [IMG]

    To this-
    [IMG]

And then I'll weld on this 3in 90deg elbow-
    [IMG]

And then put it all together...

And that means it clears, well, sort of, need to move the loom a little...

    Plenty of room barring that...

Next issue was working out plumbing, and it dont look like I can run twin intercoolers unless I can find one with end tanks facing to the left and right but only about 40cm wide, but tbh I dont think it will matter much.
Need some more pipe etc, but mocked it up well enough to know it'll all fit...

    thats well cool, but why????

Why the fuck cant you just leave it as a supercharged ae86 and get on with actually USING it? Its not like you NEED 400bhp+ in an ae86 FFS!

Is this going to become another long drawn out project like the rex?

    I think you're stupid

(and awesome for doing this sort of shit as well, but mainly... stupid :p)

Things take me a long time as I spend on average less than an hour a day on my cars.

Dont need to tell me about what spec is 'needed', ive smoked out drift days in a 200bhp old Merc with a welder FFS.

    But why?
Because I want to see how well twincharging works.
And I want to see how a few other things work.
The cars just a test bed for me, fuck all else.
And I'd rather do it quickly and easily on this POS than try it on the RX and it not work.
Im not going for 400bhp, im not going for 300bhp, im not going for anything, 200 will do, just want to see the effects of a few things.

You actually done any drift days in your car yet?

ah, so its more of an experiment... that makes more sense! I didnt actually notice the supercharger still there.

I thought you were simply getting this back to running order so you could have some fun in it... but as a test bed for your mad scientist ideas... thats cool :smokin:

Suddenly I'm really interested to see how this twincharging thing works out for you as well :) now I see why you're going with a relatively big turbo!

Yes actually, I've done a few drift days and know how things work, so dont get defensive dude :p the smileys should have let you know I was kidding!

I really wouldn't bother with twincharging. It's just too over complicated. Better just to run a straight turbo if you want more power than an SC can provide.

Its too over complicated because most people over-think it and make it over complicated. There's no surprise that the few very effective setups in the world are also the simplest.
Some of the ideas/setups people have, esp some 86 ones, are verging on ridiculous, and no wonder they cost them a bomb and have shite results.

Heres a twincharged 2ltr 16V car, in the UK, on pump fuel, as simple a twincharged setup as you can get.
    300lb/ft by 3000rpm, 400lb/ft by 3750rpm, 500lb/ft by 4300rpm, and 600lb/ft by 5400rpm
    500bhp by 4750rpm, 600bhp by 5300rpm, and 700bhp by 5900rpm, and ~800bhp by 7000rpm
And you think twincharging isnt worth it?

On the '86 I dont care about what numbers it gives, purely testing how well it works.

On the testing note, today, ive been mostly making umluft.

Well, hats off to you if you can get it up and running in good time. I've seen a few people start a twincharge project, but not seen anyone finish one. That was my concern!

    Rightythen...

Konis fitted to front, fronts all tidied up, just need new rack ends etc and ill put the now polybushed front suspension back on.

On the turbo front, the exhaust issue is solved, and now a 3in turbo back downpipe fits with no bother and nowhere near wires or brake lines...

I want to sort the wiring out, as its a fucking mess. I reckon I'd be better off removing it all, sorting what I need and dont, and then refitting it tidily.
I hate electrics, but I presume as long as I label everything up so I know where it went, it will be fine, right???

On the electrics front, anyone know what these are for? (its a AE101 4AGZE by the way)

The 2x big plugs from above tha look like ECU ones, this wire went to them, any idea why?

Any idea what these do? Had 2x ECU plugs in, and the third plug jus had these instead.

These wires were chopped but the are in the bit that goes accross the cam cover at the front, any ideas?

Also, is all this needed or is there redundant 4AGE bits still fitted? The ECU was still fitted albeit unplugged, so who knows...

The car runs, but these wires need sorting or simplyfying...

any thoughts on the exhaust manifiold quality? i am getting earache from just about everyone i know to turbo my ae82, but don't know whether to got for cast or SS. i would prefer to go cast, but if they are just as shit there's really more benefits to going stainless as it's easily modified.

At the relay box by the battery there is a 2 pin connector

Yellow is ignition supply for the injectors
Black/Red needs to be connected to the clear yellow connector in the above post.
