time for an update!was in america for few months so not much progress on the car. this is the ways she is sitting atm arches marked to be cut after cutting need to weld a metal arch in slightly wider than the one in pic made bracket to mount handbrake made seat rails got a pair of 6 point 3" harnesses this is the stage i am at atm. still waiting on the ACT clutch need to lift the manual conversion bits and the rear subframe got the pipework for the cage so will be a busy few weeks
Those rear arches won't work, needs more travel. And...woah. Errr. You got keen with the angle grinder in all areas huh!
brought to you by the makers of the rb25 e46 (main build tool was a 4 inch grinder), they may buff a bit but it will work lol
@bon the back needs to be raised so should give enough clearance! and most off the grinding was nessary! @chris i would call myself a perfectionist comared to them other two!lol @xTilla the slip on spacers will do until i get a set of 70mm made up so should be a bit safer!
How exactly?? They don't look like split rims from the pics and you cannot weld alloy wheels safely (unless you intend to X-ray the wheel to check and re-weld areas that aren't good enough)
update made up a brace to protect the radiator and fan made up two of these to raise the floor level up and to protect the feet area in case of side impact and with the plating fitted also got my diff then started on cage this also arrived this is the stage i am at now!will hopefully get the cage finished this week and make a start on fitting rear subframe and gearbox!
Awesome car will be keeping an eye on this, i got an e36 buts its only the baby 6 pot :/ but i do want a bigger engine for it either that or sr20 power !! keep up the awesome work dude !!!
hmmm arched e36's go 2 ways, and its usually the bad way but look forward to seeing what ur plans are. hate the spacers, especially when theres so many hot bmw wheels out there! love the rest tho will keep checking this thread love 36drift builds me
Thats some mega aggressive fitment aha Agree with Chizfab about arched E36's - hopefully this works well though!
progress has been slow waiting on parts etc but got a bit more done got a m3 rear end so can run medium casing diff.drilled out larger hole in mount and in diff so can run 22mm bolt and nut, pollybushed, painted and fitted that fitted oil temp and oil pressure sensors to cap of oil filter housing set ride height and fitted kit started fitting interior bits got a set of these made up also got a set of filter socks so inlet plenum will be removed to make way for these
Wow this is an interesting build! Is that some sort of DTM touring kit or something looks wild! Ever seen wheels being widened by the lip, can you not see the welds or you just going to paint over it?
