    Hi all.

Need advice and recommendations for future tuning plans!

I now have RB20DET which works perfectly!! runs great with around 260hk.

But I want more horses.. I'm thinking about 350-370hk.

I've read a lot of times now.. that the RB20DET is very bulletproof compared to the RB25DET.. but it's a lot easier to get more torque and HK from the RB25DET (which makes sense)

I wan't a rev happy long lasting 350hk engine... what should I go for? tune my RB20DET or make a swap? What gives the best value for money... and reliability?

    Cheers

the cost in getting the RB25 and installing it, you would get the SR to a serious figure! Not sure on prices on parts, but if you can't get the SR to 370 for the price of the RB swap then who ever is doing the work needs to be shot!
Injectors, Z32 Maf, exhorst, induction, and a ecu set up would probably get you mid to high 300's I'd of thought?!

Mine has done 104.xxx km now... and the last 15.000km with me! daily driven and drifter. I have changed oil every 2000-3000km and then kicked the hell out of it.. love it.. and love the thought of keeping it.. just with more power :)

thx for reply all :) love to see more

I was having a little think about this myself at one point. I have decided to stick with my RB20 and am fitting a HKS GT2535 to it soon and should be seeing around 350bhp. I personally think the 20's love a bit of abuse and love to rev.

If my RB20 fails I would consider fitting a SR20 first.

Keep the rb20. Fit a cheap t04e turbo to it and something like an apexi safc2 to tweak the fueling. I got 350 bhp this way reliably too. All on stock injectors and internals.

Don't know. Just go on eBay and type t04e. They all have the same spec but one physically has a larger inlet housing but same size wheel. I think the 8 blade one is crap and the 6 blade is good.

been running the standed turbo on my at 13.7 psi with a peak of 14.2 before its shuts down.Fueling maxed out so cant push any more but mine made 282 with decat custom 3in down pipe and zulst hks filter spitfire coils and front mount from some thing. And thats been like that for 18 months with out letting go.I did find a 34gtt turbo that looks a littel bigger than the standed 33 one fits and with ew injector a z32 and a remap should see well in to high 300s but then your need a clutch as standed one will not last long.Oh and 267 ftb

Keep the rb20....Hybrid tubby, larger injectors, z32, inline fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator and nistune and remap and i got 370 horses at 1.2 bar.....same engine for 4 years.....still going strong...on the flip side an rb25 will be going in if the 20 dies but only cos i'm after 500+ horses
