for people not competing in any high end stuff i really cannot see the point. part of learning is messing up if you never spin you never learn and will continue to not learn to not spin lol. i understand more lock but its all getting a bit silly now
not for me at all would rather have decent sized front wheels with proper offset none of this 7j +45 shit just to get mad lock
my theory is lock is essential to push your boundaries as you will push your car as fas as it will go round a courner n following run shallow to gain but wen it comes ur flat out on full lock next stop is the gravel or curb in my case once gone over centre but looks like it works
My theory is to use punctuation so people can uderstand me. More lock is loss of speed, i understand getting SOME lock extra, but this is just random
Just take a look on almost all D1 and Formula drift cars, almost none of them have überlock..and they dont lack neither fabrication skills or funds to develop shit.. and there is (as Dex says) a sweetspot where angle and foreward speed combines...
TBH it gets to a point where it's just silly. this is daft. the geo's is just about as much as i'd go. clive geo's dont come close to these, the wheels are pretty much 90 degrees. find me a pic of some geo's on a car at that angle! don't forget guys lock is awesome for wild insane entries. mid corner its just gay and slows the car (but remember this helps when twinning) but wild entries are helped with stuff like this. oh and if you want yourself some geomasters it'll cost you more than this would by the time youve adapted the rest of your car to cope with the lock geo's give you.
The kit certainly has spastic lock, and has had some serious thought and engineering put into it. But the track is increased by what 150mm? So you have to use the gayest width and offset wheels you find, and I haven't even seen a car with front wings on it yet. Also you can't use an anti roll bar, which combined with the strut being moved as it is is surely going to mean your saying byebye to any steering feel, particularly at high speed.
Counter productive if you ask me. You want lock to get massive angle, therefore look cool while drifting. But, in order to do this, you need to drive something that looks like someones "missle practice" car, on what look like 6.5J ET500 rims Yes, it has massive angles. But the car looks shit doing it.
depends how you look at drifting. if your just after having the most fun and your not arsed what people think of you these would be epic for big angle entries and close twinning.
Taavi Toomara uses the kit in the Estonian Drift Series and those dont look like gay spec wheels to me.
Arches aren't that wide, just like Mk2 Escort Tarmac rally arches. Rally, rallycross, autograss, whatever, there are wide arches, and that stops the 'issue' of a skinny arched car needing skinny wheels being an issue. The minute drift cars have to be stock looking then you got to worry, but then it will be boring. Until then, why cry about it? If YOU think its shit, dont use it...
why have utterly stupid lock, why not just have sensible lock in my eyes its all gone to shit, people having v8's and 300000000 degrees of lock its bollocks.
some of you lot need to get a grip. It looks like great fun. If thats the way you want to rock, then why not! Darren's/sunset drift e30 has spastic lock and looks utterly retarded, yet at Teesside NYE they had more fun doing stupid things than anyone else, and looking awesome whilst doing it... Ok obviously you cant use all that lock at all times... If I could use all my (almost stock) s14 lock at all times I think I would be a drift god
