Would you have any intention of making some sort of kit for this with pulleys and plates etc? Id be very much interested if you did.

I dont like centrifugal chargers and as most BMW supercharger kits seem to run them (for space reasons) its always put me off doing it. I fancy an E30 atm with an M52 and think itd be just a little naughty with an M62 on the side.

Infact is there ny reason you couldnt do this to an S50 or S52?

You'd need a bigger supercharger, you won't even get stock M3 power from a M62.

But if a bigger one fits, happy days, a positive displacment supercharger like this is much more fun and better for drifting than a centrifugal one.

This is awesome, I love home brew tuning solutions. When your perfect your set up, get a kit together with some advice and instructions and you'll sell a few, including one to me :) I'd considered going V8, but this will be so much easier!

What about the M112 from a Jag? Are they massive compared to an M62? I was wondering if an M62 isnt a bit small for a 2.8 considering its coming of a 2.0.

Centrifugal Super chargers - All the downsides of a turbocharger with none of the benefits of a supercharger haha.

the m112 from a jag is massive compared to the m62, its double the length at least.
the m90 is the best bet, its not much longer than the m62 but has better aftermarket support for getting new pullies etc.

some nice work there mate, sounds awesome :)

There was a guy on M42Club.com, that maped M42s and M50s and 52s, so its doable. Look around on there he even offered doing an basic map for me and then altering it

Ive spoken to two friends about this conversion over the last week, both very very experienced with ECU's, and they both came to the conclusion that a standalone setup is best.

One says there are turbo chips available that would work but tbh i personally wouldnt trust them and neither would he. you dont really know what sort of clown wrote them. They both suggested Emerald or something similar. Its really never going to be cheap but they are much more capable.

Unless there is someone out there who can custom map, its total different story then. Doesnt seem common to me though.

I like this alot, If you managed to compose another kit, Id be seriously interested in buying it. As for management, after such a saving on this whole set up id definatley go for stand alone management, it would really help you ensure that your getting the best possible results from the supercharger.

Have you thought about bigger TB and injectors? possibly some m3 manifolds? I know these things are all costly, but it would be such an awsome project.

Great car and great progress mate.

Shep at circuit motors in castle combe
