    Chill Steve,

If you had said in the first post that "a half decent 4WD performance car will drift just fine" then I would have read it, agreed and carried on as per norm as I have owned GT4's and Evo's in the past and have found it to be right, but it read as though you were saying ANY 4WD car will drift just fine. That's all. I'm not biting at this, I don't get wound up over such little things.

It was obviously a mix up over what you meant by your first statement and how I read it.

    No worries.

Couldn't resist this to hopefully add some humour to to the thread :)

You don't need RWD to drift.
You don't even need 4WD to drift.
You don't even need big horsepower to drift.
You hardly need any horsepower at all to Drift ... like maybe just 35bhp! and FWD!

Not humour mate, fact :) People seem too convinced you need something special to drift. Anything will in the right situation and the right driving.

If this was someones posting saying ive just bought a 1987 XR4x4 can i drift it youd all be giving him shit by now. Funny the way he has a swish car and none of you have given him shit. Tbh im suprised noones actually questioned whether this is real or not.

BTW it takes serious balls the size of melons to commit to a proper 4wd drift. Every entry is like doing a mega ultra fucktard backwards entry on the wand and then its mega throttle to keep it going. Those that can do it well are heros imo.

    Still not proper drifting though.

anyone else notice the gtr trying desperately not to skid by locking up the front wheel lol computers might be clever on the gtr but the front breaks wont beat the power lol

A 4WD will definately drift! A GT-R will also drift, really well in actual fact! Just make sure you don't bin it while trying! Before people pipe up, I love proper RWD drifting and have my own car for it but 4WD powerslides are fucking awesome!!

    Offcourse a 4wd will drift.
Its actually pretty easy to get a landrover to do it!
a standard impreza or something similar will do it just fine.
As its been said its crazy fast, loads of angle and a small amount of lock.
Back on the original point though, yes you can drift your GTR and it would be awesome but probably best not to and to get another car just to drift, borrow/barter one from somewhere or if all else fails rent a RWD rally car for the day, mk2 escort, E30 bimmer, Plenty of places will rent one out even for drift use.

Ive known OLD subarus with 2L N/A 4WD to drift.... I thought the whole idea of drifting was to loose traction? if you can get all 4 wheels to loose traction and keep it sliding with the throttle... doesnt that count as a drift? sure RWD skid easier because the front doesnt loose grip so easy. but even as a amateur I know 4WD's can drift!

I genuinely can't believe some people think that 4wd cars can't drift.
Have you never seen any rallying in your lives?
Group N rally cars are totally standard engine wise and I'm sure you will agree they drift just fine. Infact its hard to see them going in a strait line.

They are dam hard but given enough speed you can drift them. Definitely not a learner car but the first car that I ever drifted was my old impreza. Pissing down with rain and silly entry speed and loads of man foot gave me a little bit of sideways.
I've kinda wanted to have another go in one now I have had more time sideways in a RWD car. It's all in the entry flick.

Speaking of Liam and more to go against the "4wd cant drift" bollocks, here's him doing some skids at Lydden in a mid-engine 4wd RS200...

Its a completely different feeling drifting a 4wd, and a different technique.

In my old evo, the acceleration sideways was brutal and you had to be brave as sh1t to try anything big on the road in the dry. In the wet/snow it was huge amounts of fun.

But to start out drifting, and drifting in the truest sense of the word. 4wd wouldn't be ideal but it can be done.

Throckmorton airfield would be a good place to be ballsy in a 4wd, with a big flick and not alot to hit.

Suprised no-one has mentioned that Kenneth Fiesta driving chap yet....

I got the bug for drifting from driving my impreza, it took some big balls but I used to love big slides in the old beast. I have now finally bit the bullet and bought myself a proper rwd car though :)
