So boring hearing people moan about it not being dogged to hell as its been drifted to death lol. Amazing build mate and so different, can't imagine how much money it's cost to get the car to this point tho lol. You should listen to the haters and sell the focus and buy a £1000 ruined rusty jap rwd car and just drift it everywhere and then you'd be a cool guy lol
Cheers boys, but I'm afraid I won't be going Jap again anytime soon. I had an RX7 which was an amazing car, but just wasn't as mad as RWD cosworth power. It the sheer "on or off" power I like, proper drivers car. This is a lotta fun, work everywhere I go and always put a smile on my face and wipes the smile of any apposing drivers  Cost wise, really not as bad as you'd think
I don't get it. Its a Focus..It looks like a Focus other than it being rear wheel drive I don't see why anyone would be interested in it. You bought a lame goat with a wolfs heart and yet people seem to like it. Baffled.
Ok fair enough I'll rephrase .. This whole car does less for me than the idea of sticking my arm in a blender.
you would rather stick your arm in a blender, than drift a focus. i tihnk it would be fooking funny. then again, id laugh at you putting your arm in a blender. good to share.
Oh dear, I should tell M-Sport that the last 10 years or more of using a Ford Focus in the WRC was a waste of time
Haaaaaaaahahahahaha did you seriously compare your car to an actual WRC car? Awesome. I'm off to buy a Suzuki Cultus and hit up Pikes Peak.
Easy there boys with jumping on the band wagon, clearly not comparing Just stating that a Focus is a good base to use as a 4x4 or RWD, going by the missguided comments above
god this site is getting worse, not only is the car very capable, but some awesome engineering work has went into it, but its not a BMW or ae86 yo so loads of hate. It doesnt matter if the guy doesnt drift it, or you dont like it, but you cant deny its better than alot of stuff on here
It is a pretty cool car. I have this shape Focus and it is a pretty decent chassis. Last weekend I was driving on the motorway at about 80mph when I suddenly hit an enormous puddle which lifted the car and covered the windscreen for a few seconds. Seriously brown trousers moment. But when the screen cleared, I was still right in the middle of my lane, and the car was totally under control. Quite a lot of other cars I’ve driven would have had quite a drastically different outcome. I like the look of the MK1 Focus too, especially in the WRC/RS guise. It’s a cool shape, doesn’t look especially dated, and cleans up nicely. Still, despite that, I do struggle a bit with what the point is, ultimately. Usually with these sort of conversions it’s because the car offers something a bit different – usually added lightness. But the Focus is heavier than an S14. It’s not especially compact, and needs a lot of work to make it work properly. The YB is a really expensive engine compared to an SR20, and is no stronger or more reliable, and doesn’t have the potential for more power when tuned. I guess it’s probably one of those things that can’t be explained, and you either get it or you don’t. Personally if I wanted a car which was the same rough weight of a Focus, but RWD, with a few hundred horsepower, then I’d be looking at S14s all day long. But then I guess that’s because I prefer bang for buck, to being different for the sake of it. Still, I do sometimes wonder what my ST would be like if it was RWD, so I guess I can sort of understand it. As I say though, regardless, it is a cool car and it has been built to a good standard. If we all drove S14s then this section of the forum would be the most boring place ever, wouldn’t it.
I like that this project is different to any other project. I like how it has the potential to drift well. I like the engineering work that's gone into it to make it well setup and capable. However i don't think you've built it for drifting, if you'd drifted at any tracks i think there would be pics all over the tinterwebz. Correct me if i'm wrong but i think it's a project to say 'this is what i can do to a car'.
Sometimes people just do stuff because they want to, not because it's the cheapest/fastest/strongest/lightest The MK1 Focus is one of my favourite WRC cars of all time, when it went to the really lairy version with the big stepped front bumper and huge wing:
Think I preferred the original McRae spec Focus WRC, with its subtley flared arches and deep front splitter, while it still looked more or less like a beefed up roadgoing version. I've toyed with the idea of taking my ST off the road so I can prep it for track use later this year and I think this would definitely be a route I'd go down. It's a brilliant looking car with a great chassis. What I think it highlights is that Ford should just have done a production RWD version themselves and saved everyone the arguments we've had on this thread
had to laugh at that, Last 10 years for M sport was a waste of time!! Yes it was, hardly got anywhere with only these and the citreon competing lol, 2nd out of 2 lol. But i do like it as im a cossie man xx
i do like the idea of this car, and im sure in the right hands it would be good fun to drift. the owner is not a keen drifter more of a track man by the looks of it. everyone is different i personally wouldnt spend the money on converting a focus shell myself, but doesnt mean i wouldnt like to own one already converted. although who am i to talk, i drive a rusty old mercedes with a nissan engine fitted. each to their own my oppinion is if you dont like the thread dont post on it, although when you put a thread up on the internet you are open and should expect and accept both negative and positive comments.
