want to run and external swirl pot on my e30 to prevent fuel surge

engine im running is sr20det, 555cc nismo injectors, 300bhp

got a 255 walbro pump in tank and thinking external 044 bosch fuel pump externally to feed the rail. what size tank would you suggest is adequate?

and is there anything else I need to think about. will these pumps be sufficient?
not got a lot of experience with these setups setups so any help and advice will be greatly appreciated :)

The pumps will have more than enough capacity. You could have used the standard pump in tank.regarding swirl pot with your set up the size is not so important. It should be a lot higher than wide to prevent surge. I usually make them around 4l.
Its important that the smallest diameter on the feed line to the external pump is larger than the diameter of the feed line to the engine to prevent the pump from surging. That can cause the pump to fail.

only going to use the walbro as I already have one. interesting what you said about the diameters of the lines, thats certainly not something I would have taken into much consideration, thanks :)

Im using -10 from swirl to pump then -8 feed to rail. Check out www.torques.co.uk awesome quality fittings and hoses and alot cheaper then goodridge aeroquip etc. using them on all our comp cars. Also 4l?? Wtf that is huge. Im running a 1.5l myself and that is more then enough.

With surge tanks ive seen a couple different designs when it comes to the return to the tank.
does the return have to be on the top above all other fittings as ive seen some that have the fittings
inline along the top of the face of the tank.
it makes sense that it would be on top but is it necessary
