On my 180 they keep coming loose, I've thread locked them and used ptfe. These are by far the biggest pieces of shit I've ever bought, let alone not being able to get a 14mm Allen key in the bolt
You take the tie rod off, use loctite and a spring washer under the bolt head, fit a 14mm Allen socket while holding the rack spacer to prevent damaging the locating tabs and tighten them up. That's how I do it, then tighten the tie rod back on, again holding the rack spacer.
Yep tried all that. Resorted to welding the bolt to the spacer. I'm going to get a subframe and mount the rack 20mm forward. I'm fed up of coming in from a few laps and having to fuck around peeling the gaitor back and re tightening it. Anyone got a subframe with the rack moved forward?
2 years. Probably one of the most used cars on the forum? Never had an issue. didnt even loctite them, as they have loctite on them from dw.
Just me then. They are good at what they are designed for... Fucking good in fact. Going to go modify the subframe I think.
I have seen the issue a few times. I put it down to; what I do most steering related issues- WHEELS CATCHING ON ARCHES/ARMS ETC! You then trying to force the wheel... something has to give. Odds are- its bending a rod. But most people uprate the rods. Then we have a Tensile weakness... 20 year old rack thread stretches a bit as not designed to have a load put on it like so. Then you continue to drive on it. The bolt slightly rattling within the thread= mega fucking thread for life.
