No its the combied MAM (maximum allowed mass) of the tow car and the trailer which in most cases IS always over 3.5tonne
also the tow car HAS to be heavier than the loaded trailer.

No. You need the right trailer part on your licence, so need to do a test

no... the MAM of the tow vehicle PLUS the MAM of the trailer has to equal LESS than 3500kg AND the tow vehicle has to weigh more than the trailers MAM.

Brian James do a 300kg trailer with a 1000kg max load (meaning the drift car has to weigh less than 1001KG)(trailer MAM = 1300)
An alfa 156 sport wagon for example has a curb weight of 1335kg (more than the trailer MAM) a max towing capacity of 1300kg and a MAM of 1850kg. Meaning you come in at a total max of 3150kg

which means if you can drift a mini and you have a alfa 156sport wagon and a tiny trailer then yes you can do it....
but no. with a towing licence you can tow up to 8500kg i think it is?? obviously tow car has to weigh more than the trailers mam again.

    yeah??

You're allowed to tow up 750 kilos. Just done my trailer test for work...bit of a bitch and can cost alot. The penalty for towing without license is savage aswell apparently. So its a bit of a hassle :(

1147kg trying to control (1400+700kg) 2100kg = death. Its nicknamed tail wagging the dog.

My 3.5t sprinter can only tow 2TON legally for a reason.........

Cars towing cars is sometinhg i grew out of years ago...... Can get very scary

You would be better buying a older recovery truck if your only going to move driftcars around a 3.5 tonn will be fine
