After some advice from people in the know please...

Is it considered essential for a LS engine in a drift car to be dry sumped?

Where's the best place to source an engine from? States? Aus?

Looking for a crate motor or very low milage s/h lump for a job that I got on.

    Any advice gratefully received :)

some say yay some say no. you can buy a bolt on accusump system from sikky.

states is getting cheaper but there are uk suppliers which work out just as cheap once you include everything

    partsworldperformance.co.uk do crate engines

dry sump is good but it's for hard core racing.
Accusump is nice and cheap. And will give you a ease of mind.

I bought the accusump from SIKKY and it's far from a bolt-on kit, and you should find one in the UK easily! You'll need to make the plumbing on your side. I would advise a good baffled oil pan like the SIKKY or the Fueled racing with a 3 quart accusump!

Baffled sump and accusump is enough , dry sumps are not all they a cracked up to be !!! They can cause more trouble than they stop ,

A ls2 is probably the best value but a ls1 with a good cam is still a good motor around 420 bhp , ls2 comes with fbw which some people don't like but you can use emerald Etc to get round that . Ls3s are more power but lots more money ,

Craig, the LS iv got in is a new create engine, its LS2 bottom end with LS3 heads... First few times it was run it was fine.. Then it developed a nasty noise, sounded like a m8 nut rattling around or something equally as bad.. It's not rhythmic, it's a random harsh clonking noise..

The owner hasn't given the go-ahead to strip it to investigate yet, when I get the nod, is there anything in particular I should look for?
Could slack in the chain cause that sort of noise?
(It's Jamie Kay's S14, think you've helped him in the past about a few issues he had getting it running.. )
    Thanks mate:thumbs:
