You can read the entire warts & all history here pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1042303 It's no show queen it's used as it was intended to be! The crank is slightly out of balance so at low rpm (under 2k) it's quite lumpy I only noticed when I put stiffer engine mounts in, it's not a huge job to do prob a £1000 job at somewhere like DynoTorque if it bothered you. How you value something like this I don't really know, I guess it would probably worth more in parts alone but I couldn't bring myself to do it after all the work I've put into it, if it wasn't for the crank being out of balance I'd be pricing it at £10k. £7500 I'd consider an E46 convertible (£3-4k) as a PX Blair 07885634239 Craig Taylor from DynoTorque 01217530415 has done most of the work on the car.
Shit - If i were in a position to buy this car i would. Its well worth that price all day long! Good luck with it mate, and if i suddenly find a magic pot of gold, i will be in touch.
Where? No money net exchanged hands yet but had some interesting & ridiculass offers! it runs the GM LS1B PCM (ecu) and was mapped by Greg @ Protuner.
So is this usable as is, or would the engine require a rebuild due to crank issue. Assuming the crank is reusable? Or is it buggered, could it have caused other issues with the internals?
I've driven it for the last year without issue. It's not a big deal. When I replaced the crank last year I replaced it with one off the shelf I didn't realise that the rotating assembly should be balanced as one (hindsight hey!)& never noticed the issue until I changed to stiffer engine mounts. It won't get any better or worse, between 1-2000rpm it feels a little lumpy like it has a little misfire, I guess most wouldn't notice it & presume its a feature of the engine but I know it's there so have to mention it.
ah, sadly my 330cd didnt sell fast enough .... that was a stunning car mate!!! seen it in a magazine, then on piston heads and though-perfect e46 )) best of luck with your next car!
