Hey, strange place to ask this I know but seems relevant as not everyone is 100% a bachelor drift but here. He's getting old, used to ride british sport bikes and has bad legs. His current car (standard mk4 golf TDI) is fine except its too low to get in. So driftworkers, I request any help in finding the following car (makes/models, specific examples unnecessary) Around £3000 4 doors Automatic Good mpg (low mileage short trips so petrol probably better, 30+ good) High seating position (dining chair more than a recliner sofa) Enough power (150 HP & ftlbs is more than enough) I hope to hear some interesting ideas
Tell him with that spec to go to a car dealer and see what they have in stock. This is hardly forum worthy material
Why? This is a good a place as any to ask that question. People on this forum have a very good knowledge of cars and it's more than likely that someone has driven the exact car he is looking for and can recommend it.
Ok I'm sorry, you are right. I might have been a bit too harsh about the whole recommendation so I took the given specifications, 3000gbp, good millage, possibly automatic and came up with a suitable list for his dad's next vehicle. In fact here is a picture
Only as iv bought one, but a Lexus GS300, it's a drivers car who wants simple and easy driving. The seat is adjustable from low rider to hit your head on the roof. All come in Auto spec, 4 doors and i picked mine up for £740 with one owner, 150k on the clock and feels only a couple years old. Everything works on the thing, Its great! And there would be plenty of change to fill it up and have a few beers afterwards. fuel wise, its not too bad, im coming from a 328i so wasnt getting the best mpg's anyway.
I've got an Aristo and my mum gets in and out with ease. Big doors, plenty of room, comfy, easy to drive, automatic so he's not fucking about with a clutch or gear change, well spec'ed and although they're not 50mpg+ eco warriors I'm assuming your dad doesn't rag his cars everywhere so fuel consumption wouldn't be that terrible. They're eliable cars so he won't be constantly chucking money at getting it fixed. Quite a few GS300's have been LPG'd too, which obviously makes fuel cheaper and the engines supposedly work efficiently with gas. He'd pick up a nice Sport for under £2k
Dont get a diesel bmw if its going to be used for low mileage short trips, the DPF's are a fucking pain in the ass if the car doesnt get used on long journeys, especially in the cold. There not cheap to replace either when they go tits up because of the short journeys.
