This is where the turbo will sit... ish. Will be at that angle but a bit lower and further forward but that's the only place I could balance it!
Waiting on a flange for the manifold so started on the plenum chamber. Will get it finished up tomorrow.
Well not really touched the 7 for a while! I bought a 2.1 stroked impreza for a as daily a while back and sodding think let go on me! So been doing all the fab on that. She's now a 2.35ltr based on an EJ22 with the 'spare' GT40 on her. Will make for an interesting combo! Not far off finishing the headers and finally got the turbo where I wanted it! For those interested in such this a quick pic with the mock up knackered cases..... Still got the wastegates to fit in Still the FC is getting a little neglected because of the scoob and ill health though there is no lack of desire to get the monster completed. I have started to draw up a new list of to do's. With the Impreza not far off being road worthy again I turned my attention back to the 7 for an evening last week to get to grips with where I left off In haste, made a huge school boy error, with the header when I got the turbo position where I wanted it I quickly built up the pipe work in a funky fashion off the car and at work...... but I may not taken into account the sodding peripheral port intake and it fouled big time...... TWAT! Not too much off an issue. With the turbo moved/motor mounted and inlet manifold roughly where I wanted it I ended up with the key engine bay components looking king of like this: I'm just waiting on some more flanges for the two Tial gates, had to use the set I had on the scoob , so I can get those mounted and the I can do the down pipe and centre section to marry up to the rear. Pics to follow when they arrive. I also have a bit more work to do on the trans tunnel. Once the last of the major fab bits are in then I can turn my attention back to the motor and wiring. And for any of those that remember the 20B that's in my shed (which will end up in this) the parts are coming slowly but surely  So made the adjustment to the header today. Just a tweak but will do the trick and now clears the inlet manifold pipe. This header is thick walled 316 stainless. Thinks it is 3.2mm wall if I remember. When the 20B goes in and that header is made I'll use the same 321 grade that I used for the scoob one. But here you go. Just Swapped the inlet to the flange and changed the pipe a little. Not quite as funky looking but hay ho. Also after a rather large crash in my MX5 RS a couple of weeks ago. I decided to have the recaros out of her for the RX. They're not in bad nik. Need a good clean now they are out and fitting to the 7's rails. Way lighter that the FC seats. The RS is going to a good home though to be reshelled. Low mileage engine, close ratio box and LSD will be put into a mint shell my mate owns and it will kind of live on. More to follow, More often and MORE ROTARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad to see some more updates on this Can't wait til the first spark up.....brapbrapbrapbrapbrapbrapbrapbrapbrapbrap
Thanks people, always good to see positive responses to a built. Would be built by now if I had more time! Boost pipe in with the BOV. Fitted it all up so get the lay of the land. Mocked up a down pipe but not happy with the angle as it dips down past the bulk head. So will order another section of 3" for that and just have one long radius around. Wastegates in the kind of position they will be in once I've bored the headers for the pipe work. Almost looks like how the engine bay should look
Ha ha yeah was funny. To be just be fair just has a couple of days messing around with bits at home. Couple of days this weekend too so will get the Down pipe finished. I have changed it since that photo as the kink by the bulk head was too sharp for my liking so nice and smooth now. Also want to get trans tunnel finished with the gearbox in place and the seats mounted. Not far off of getting into the wirng now.
