Hi Im relatively new here, been watching other drift builds for couple of years now and now I want to make my own from the beginning, Im into Toyota and have been since I got my license so Toyota was my brand of choice This is the body I went with, got it for cheap, 1300cc Fwd 4door corolla Interior Engine 4EFE I sold the rear suspension and fueltank right away I looked for rust Unbolted the rear drivetrain from down under Checked again for any rust Tapped off the fuel tank and took it out Went and picked up the rear drivetrain and 4wd fuel tank Bought some bolts for it Compared the two fuel tanks Compaired the rear drive train Had my buddy who works at a lathe workshop make two of the bolts fit the body Sanded down and painted the fuel tank Sanded down all the surface rust and painted it Fitted the fuel tank
I have a soft spot.for these after owning a 2 door sport in a similar colour, I love the functional interior on these too. Keep this updated because I can't wait to see the end result. But your steering wheel is on the wrong side
Wow that's unusual, what rear subframe/diff are you using GTfour? And what motor do you plan on running? My friend has a 3sgte equipped hatch but it is fwd, he struggled with converting it to 4wd due to it be ing tight for space and the extensive floor modifications required
What rear equipment am I using? Im using a rear subframe that came to my country in a Wagon and only with 7afe engine and 4wd gearbox. They came as ae100, ae101 and ae102 body types, Im using ae100 its the same in all three of them but in the ae102 body the gearbox dosent come with central diff lock, a vacum locker for the rear wheels. Here is ae101 4wd wagon, when I did this the first time And here is one of my old Corolla that I made 4wd with 4age 20v silvertop then blacktop and then 7AFTE Befor the 4wd I had run through 4EFE engine and two 4AGE bluetop 16v, It was my engine whore What engine and gearbox am I going to use in the blue sedan? Im going to post later about this, have gone through two engines already Floor modification for rear subframe? No floor modification that I can speak off, Im going to post more pictures of my Sedan when I fabricate for the rear drive train/subframe/diff. . .
Continue from up top. . . Fitted the rear subframe Knock knock Cut Both sides Fitting again Close enaugh Fitting the nut, drilled and welded it in Like a glove Fitting brake lines Brake lines done Wheels fitted Down it goes Beautifull axle lignment
well this is a bit different! im interested to see how this turns out, definitely sounds like you have done your corolla research!
Thats hard to tell. . . Well not really, Ive made couple of these wagons Rwd, two AE95 body types, two ae100 and one ae101 and never had any trouble, never broke anything but all of them had original power outputs with original engines so not much power to brake anything hehe, I also make my black corolla Rwd with the silvertop engine, never broke anything, also the first summer with the 4wd drive train and silvertop installed I raced the wind on every green light I reevvvved the jeebus out of it and clutch dropped it spinning all four tiers out 1gear and little bit in 2gear and grinding the hell out of the 3gear those gearboxes are not made for quarter mile runs at least not when going up to 8900rpms and trying to lightspeed shift it.
What country are you from? the only 4wd corolla variant we can get here is the tercel and that's as rare as a proverbial
The TRD in red is a nice touch, I had my doubts about how that era of corolla would look but your old corolla looks mad.
Continue. . . Now the engine part Suspension, fluids, electric and the small stuff is out Engine and gearbox out And put into the corner for the new owner Cleaning Thinking Sanding and painting rust Now changing the subframe for 4wd subframe Then attacking the gearboxes, E57 and E250 4wd with vacum locers The E250 had a broken locker ring, switched them out for another one Back togeather
Now for the back stabbing part Trying to fit the rest of the gearbox Fits so nicely Then measuring the inlet middle to the outside 11cm of space that I need The space I had left, around 4cm So I deleted that 1MZ-FE idea and grabbed the next thing I had stock 4afe Only needed the engine block because there is a grinding spot on the back of them to grind out for the 4wd gearbox so I needed that. All so I could build a 4age 16v fresh one with goodies Then a fly got stuck in my head to check out the 2.0l 3sfe engine that came with the E250 Rav4 gearbox so I opened it up It was OK So I cleaned it and fitted more stuff to it MR2 turbo hedders Garrett 4.2 Landcruizer GT4 celica topmount intercooler Then decided to go for it and use the 2.0l engine, or at least try it out, Bought new timing kit, front and main crank seals Fitted oil return Switched the injectors for 310cc supra lime green Put everything in Lifted front end up Rolled the engine under (Friend making a scene) Almost everything bolted in
Moving day Sleeper Moving it to another location My daily, mmc pajero that I made diesel year ago, best car in the world Running summer mode in the picture About a year ago doing the diesel swap, half winter mode on Full time winter mode (when everything covers in snow) Towed it to my fathers garage fixing some small things down under Now to the electric, I used 4age 16v ae92 GTI engine and ecu harness because this build is low budget build and I have so much of stuff around that I wanted to use or at least try it out. And because the 2.0l Rav4 harness was shit this is what I did, 4EFE on the operating table Alot of drowings Got the main things out that I needed Then the 4age harness opens up Moved the project back home and fitted 15" rims newly painted black, just trying it out 4age ready for life transplant Ready for testing Weak spark, bought new dizzy cab, spark plugs, wires, rotor. Then fuel pump died, fitting another one Then finding out the dizzy had another type of rotation counting sensors so the injector firing and spark was so wrong and it sputter and never ran I opened the dizzy and compared the axle with the 4age dizzy axle And after checking various ranges of toyota dizzy´s I found out that I could not fix this so easy so I got little tired of this and towed the project to my house that I rent out and stored it there for some time.
This last Sunday I checked my head cooling level Cleaned the garage at home Went to my house and picked up the project At home (10minutes away) In it went Bonnet off and car up Hope you guys like so far To be continue. . .
