Bmw diesel gurus, if you exist on here i have a question. I have an e39 530d touring on a V plate. I went to change the thermostat the other day, which when buying from a motor factors comes with the housing. As i went to fit it, it turns out its a different bolt pattern to mine. So ive tried to order 3 different thermostat housings for this car now and everytime they are wrong. i cant appear to find to find the correct thermostat housing anywhere. so in the end i decided to take the new thermostat out of the the housing, place it in the old housing and try that. however much to my dismay the old housing cracked when going back on due to it being old and brittle and now will not seal. Can anybody help or shed some light onto why this could be
order it of the part number on the old thermo housing , will be a 7 digit number. Alternatively , pm me a chassis number and I can try track it down
See i tried going off the reg plate and its the wrong one, so does this mean i have a different engine? the part number off of the old thermostat is 2247269
