    Hi,
Im looking to get a AE86 levin, however could you guys help point out any differences between the UK spec and japanese spec, a mate bought a toyota of some-sort (import) and the chassis was half the thickness, the steering linkages were made of plastic rather than phosphor bronze as in the UK spec that last longer!, and the cam shaft bearings were not made to EU standard and ended up knackering the engine. Since these cars arnet cheap I would appreciate any information.
    Cheers Joe

Cam shaft bearings failed because they weren't made to EU standard... That's a new one.

Chassis 100%, Steering linkage 100%, Cam bearings 100%! lol

Sounds like he's spinning you a yarn pal, all those things are common.

I best go check my JDM booter in case it breaks in two from having a half as thick chassis as the UKDM version !

Smells like shit to me to like others have said above. Usually the differences between UK and Jap cars boil down to cosmetic and spec differences. Major parts like chassis and engines tend to be the same

Would be interesting to know what Toyota your "friend" has.

I think that are the same cars, only small differences in aesthetics and horsepower, for European standards.
