Bit of a different one, some of you may already know at the end of this month i will be heading out to Malawi. I will be going out to join a small group of fellow ex forces guys to help conduct anti poaching operations, The team are incredibly under funded, sadly protecting people pays very well but when it comes to animals.. they cant offer us anything but their thanks! My entire trip has been self funded, and is quite expensive. Flights, food, water, ammunition, equipment etc. The nature of this work is of course very dangerous as poachers and ourselves are armed and they dont take kindly to westerners coming over to stop their trade! Any funding i can raise can help pay for much needed medical supplies and equipment for the team and myself and could make a real difference. Here is the facebook page for the team i am going out with: https://www.facebook.com/AntiPoachingKasunguSaveTheElephants?fref=ts as you can see they are achieving great things and really taking the fight to the poachers. If anyone is able to donate absolutely anything it would be a huge help. I have setup a fund raising page: Help fund Jack's Anti poaching trip by Jack Finn Kelcey - GoFundMe Anyone that can help would be hugely appreciated, and will do a lot more good than just sharing pictures on facebook. Once im out there i will try and keep a blog of some sorts, depending on internet access. Thanks in advance guys and girls.
I will donate when I'm back from doing a few things in town! Out of interest, how would people go around doing something like this? Me and a few mates from work (military) have spoke about doing it. Would love to go and help out against fuckers like that. Pm me if you feel better.
Is it too late now? The website says its been stopped now? Jack, This is mighty worthy of you. Great to see people taking passion in saving animals.
Back up and running, for diplomatic reasons had to change the wording a bit! Thanks everyone for their support. It's heart warming stuff!
A noble cause indeed. I am currently struggling to donate though. Is it broken again? I will try again later/tomorrow. Failing that just PM me your paypal address or whatever. Good man.
Nice. Shared it around. Some nice wholesome folk on my FB so fingers crossed. I would definitely follow a blogwhatnot of this kind of endeavour.
How do you stop the poachers, shoot them or shout abuse? Just curious as if your both armed, seems v dangerous.
This isnt the place to go into it in detail but yes we are armed and we have the right to use firearms in self defence. The park we are looking after was home to 1000 Elephants ten years ago, last year the head count was 40. All down to poaching. We are going out to train up and work alongside the local rangers and researchers to protect the remaining and try and stamp out poaching in the area. It is a very difficult task without funding, so far i have paid all expenses out of my own pocket, could of bought me a nice drift car" So everyone thats contributed so far, thank you so much. Every little helps
