Hi all rather then reviving my old dead thread I thought I would start a new one as the date now going in a completely different direction. The cat started out going down the pinto power drag race route. But I miss going sideways so decided to kerb the drag idea. After getting the car stripped and painted this is how's it's looking now.

bought the doner mk2 mx5 for £50 with a 110k motor that's ment to of been rebuilt sadly no recipts to prove it, but going down the turbo route il rebuild it again for peace of mind.

2 hours later the motor was ready to lift out.

After a trial for I'm going to have to cut more of the bulkhead out to make way for the intake but looking like a good fit into the mk2 escort x member.
Il keep the thread updated as much as possible. I've got a few tasks I want to try and do. One of the is to get better steering lock. If anyone can help with that. Hope you enjoy.

So I managed to get a few more hours on the car today. First job was to cut out the bulkhead and get clearance for the mx5 intake.

After a good bit of cutting we managed to get the motor in the rough place.

After this I wanted to see what I needed to do to the mounts and to be fair it's not the much work.

But we managed to get the engine in somewhere near to get a good look.

Next thing is to get the box mounted to see where that lines up.
    Cheers

    Another update.
Thought I would try and see if the mx5 gearbox would fit in the original tunnel and with a small bit of cutting to allow the shutter to be moved back a few inches the box fitted perfectly.

So then started to mock up the new bulkhead only had a few hours so could achieve much but it all helps.

Who knew cereal boxes can be so handy.

Hi mate - have you make a gearbox mount yet? I'm doing the same conversion on a mk2 but head scratching on that bit..
