Haha to be fair I could feel that the tire felt funny heard it pop and jumped or what I thought was pop went to look in the mirror to make sure I wasn't in someone's way and it was just hanging by the cable was gutted lol Sweet cheers bud yer gunna build it up and hopefully do it next winter
Great write up Took a while to load up all the pictures on my laptop haha but very good build like what you've done
You still having temp issues? If so would recommend adding some ducting around the intercooler to channel air into the radiator. Made a huge difference with mine and it costs bugger all.
Haha cheers bud and yer i think photos are better saves me having to write to much lol The bonnet defiantly seemed to help i had no temperature issues at the last event i did was lydden drift bash and although it didn't rain it was a pretty cold all weekend, i was thinking about making some ducting i had a look through your thread looks good did it make a dramatic difference ?
Made a huge difference. The track I run normally here is about 1 min per lap total, 20 seconds of it drifting (3rd & 2nd). Temps would be over 95 in 3-4 laps and take 1 lap to come down to 85. Now i can hammer out 8 laps before getting to 95, and then a 1 lap cool down drops it to 80. Motorway cruising temp has gone from 85 to just under 80 as well. It just forces so much more air through the radiator that would normally just escape underneath or around it.
1 to 8 that's a pretty impressive increase think I might have to look into it I have two huge electric fans on mine so at my local track lydden hill on a uk version of a hot day it takes me about 5-6 solid good laps to get the car a bit warm haven't had a hot day since the bonnet yet but will defiantly be making up some ducting. You have any issues with bursting boost hoses near the turbo as that's the other thing mine does all the time and hopefully the bonnet will help prevent
When you say hoses, do you mean the joiner on the intercooler piping or the vacuum hoses? The joiner is always going to be an issue. A mate found an intercooler joiner that had a steel sleeve on the outside and that seemed to do the trick better than just wrapping it in heat wrap. Ideal is just removing the compressor housing and getting an extension welded on the outlet to move the joiner away from the exhaust runners
Yer the first one off the turbo housing at the moment I have a old popped one wrapped around it seems to be doing the job, yer m8 of mine had a spare old housing cut that off and welded that on so its much further away think Id like to do something like that at some point but also my intercooler pipe work is a half original steel and then some ally a bit all over the place so could do with some attention anyway
Probs the best thread ive red... Loads of pics and less words is a win. Cars looking epic man, keeping my eye out for the 1j swap
So Close To being Complete Windscreen Interior finding its way back it And then it found its way back in Dad said he would make me a snazzy little dash centre for me switches Bdaaa think it look pretty awesome Needed something to hold rear bumper up as smashed the old polystyrene out at lydden last time so made jacking/bash bar at same time Needed to re make my front one to meet bdc ruleings Threw some paint at bonnet and bash bar Perspex arrived
