Can someone talk me through setting up diff pre-load? I need to swap the companion flange from an open Soarer diff to a TT Supra LSD. To do this, I need to remove the 35mm 3-bolt companion flange (the nose flange) nut, on both diffs. Swape the flanges and do the nuts back up. There’s also a crush ring on both, which I intend on opening with a hammer & chisel, and closing the same way. I’ll also need to make a 2-pin lever bar to hold the flange while I use a breaker bar on the nut. Anyways, it all sounds simple….. except for setting the pre-load. Can someone guide me on how to do this? I have a torque wrench, just not sure if it’s as simple as torqueing the flange nut up to a certain force, or if there’s more to it (regards back lash etc). ???
