Yeah man that was the idea. Force air and kind of bash bar. Also plate up chassis rails with skid plates Making shit fit tonight.
dude this is insane man love this so much!!! body work is insane you've done a great job! going to look so mean when its done! I'm looking at buying an MX5 so this is mad inspiring, best of luck on the next stages dude!
Haha cheers, thanks for the comment, body work isn't really my thing atall. It's far from perfect. Here's some bits for the side skirts that are a pain to fit right. These are going from sill to skirt. Just to stop flopping about really.
Well the skirts are now fitting ok. Just need final prep, the rear bumper mounts are sorted, Bonnet catch had to be moved again but that's along story! Getting there. Must be time to paint things soon. Got a que of work potentially after this then might get on to my car
After work today I had some time on this again. Stripped the sides of the bay down and cleaned up. Primed and satin blacked it looks alright! Re routed the loom to make it a tad neater. Brake pipes will being re done as the last person to do them wasn't the best at it. After that is some sweet chassis rail work, found some rags and filler in one rail.
So the Badley bent bit of chassis rail for beaten about tonight. Then removed to slow a nice fresh bit on to the remaining good metal. Not welded, just placed in at the moment but bit of an improvement this will also have the skid plates over the top.
So both rails are finished now. Whilst welding the driver side I had a distinctive smell of petrol one of the fuel lines was very rusty and having been disturbed had started to leak. So stoped welding pretty quick ha! Sorted now though and have made a feed and return out of new pipe.
Cheers. It's nearly there. Not perfect work but I always look back and think should have done it this way or that way, but it is working and seems strong so happy days. If you like fabrication the next major project I got in will be a biggy.
Fuel lines ran. Late one at the workshop last night got a fair bit done, boost pipes need tweaking since Intercooler move.
Nearly time for a fire up. Then paint if it all works. Just messing with the final bits of engine back. Idle valve pipe, ITA TEMP, breather hoses. Wide band. Still a big list to complete ha
Fired up today pretty much first time, bit of a sticky lifter type noise that will hopfully lessen, it's been standing a while now. Gotta button up lots of bits now. S14 brake lines for the front, oil catch tank, double check all clamps, wire in the fans, wire in boost solenoid. Ect ect. But in away from Wednesday but Sunday should see a drive around the yard and get fully up to temp ect.
Wired up the fams to say, gunna try them out on the original set up with out an extra relay see how it goes. Sorted some power for the oil and water temp gauges. Ran the wide band wires, rigged up an air filter pipe and 5 inch slim K&N filter. Then started on the remainder of the exhaust, still lots to go but getting there. Here's a bit of a rubbish pic.. Then across the back to start the exit on the driver side.
Back from Scotland today. Centre section was fully tack welded and now removed for fully welding. Was using some bends I had from the old piping on the front cooler, they wernt the perfect angles but with some small pie slices spacers I got there in the end it's now on the operating table for fully welding.
Fully welded the exhaust today. All joints and hangers. To be honest. The gaps wernt as close as they needed to be when tig welding. It really is a file fit under the car on my own trying to hold the tig the pipes and tack it all at once caused a few little gaps. Being the what, 2nd or 3rd proper tig work I have done I'm happy enough with it. Fired it up once fully welded and let it get up to temp, fans cut in and out oil stat opened. Happy days!
