Basically I bought a stage 1 ecu and put it in and it ran for 5 seconds but would cut out because I didn't have the chip out the key so the immobiliser was kicking in. I got the lad to send me the chip out the key and the halo so I changed them and it won't even start now and the check engine is flashing.

    Has anyone got any ideas?

You'll also need the matching NATS box by the sounds of things.

I thought the nats was built into the ecu on a 14a

It is, but you need the ECU, key chip and NATS box to match.

Otherwise you could just fit any old ECU into a car and have it away.

nats is a chip inside the ecu as well as other random bits all over the car that talk to each other, get rid of it, its complete sh*t, and in no way stops your car being stolen, i believe that removing the chip from the ecu will stop the nats completely without the need to remove the modules from the rest of the car, Jez at horeshum developments car take it out for like £20, but your running for 5 seconds then cutting out combined with the light it 100% nats cutting in.
