G'day guys/gals, Names Kyal. From brisbane australia. I guess ill start this at the start? 8 years ago i owned this jzx81 mark II that i did sprints in: loved it to bits, fell in love with the chassis and 1j, after a few years and because the car wasnt rego'd (and couldnt be in aus), and i had a rx7 and s15 that were both rego'd i eventually lost interest in it and decided to part it out even though i loved the car. the majority of the parts went to my mate, his brother had a road legal gx81 that he was going to convert to 1j and manual. About a year or so later i sold the s15 and just had the rx7, but as usual the car kept being modded to the stage it wasnt ideal as a daily driver. so i decided it was time to buy another daily, not to mod just to cruise around in and be reliable, enter LX80 factory manual Non turbo diesel cresta over 6months i recieved coilovers/big win skirts/rear skirt off my original jzx81! thats when i realised i was still in debt from owning so many cars and decided to get out of the car scene, sold everything and bought a real shit audi. Over the next 4 years i get pretty involved in the drift scene with lots of mates still with cars driving what felt like evey week. late last year, debt free, money in the bank decided to get back into cars are get somthing to start drifting. Started looking, nothing really picking my fancy, then all of a sudden i saw my mates brother gx81 that he converted then sold years ago, it was cheap, it had all my old stuff, it was mine. bought the car home, not boosting, fuel pump hard wired, leopard print interior, but i didn't care, it was basically my old jzx81 but rego'd. i was fucking stoked. fixed alot of issues with it, put some wheels on it, lowered it, put a bride in and went out to queensland raceway. since when iv just been driving it and enjoying it, done things like new coilovers, 4.3 diff, 25mm lcas, knuckles etc. went few a few different sets of wheels, just gonna do a photo dump. and then after months of looking i found a set of chrome door handles did them today tomorrow the car will have the rear arms pulled out of it as they are all getting shortened 25mm. but yeah thats the basics of it! ill post a mod list below interior: 'twinky' steering wheel bride divers seat sparco passengers seat boost gauge water temp gauge pbm gear knob head unit with AUX some speakers front and rear HKS turbo timer exterior: 17x8 +30 URAS NS01 17x9 +30 URAS NS01 engine⁄driveline: 1jz-gte w58 heavy duty clutch welded 4.3 diff front mount intercooler split dump pipe 3in back exhaust made by fabulous fab with interchangeable muffler⁄straight pipe brand new rack mounts from toyota microtech LT12s made 300hp on 14psi. thermo fan suspension⁄brakes: coilovers front sway bar removed ba falcon slotted front rotors r33 gtst front calipers garage 7 hub ring adaptors 25mm lcas redman knuckles sv21 rack ends new stock tie rod ends 20mm shortened rear lca 20mm shortened rear toe arm 20mm shortened rear traction arm
Yes! Love this, you're old one is like my cars 4 door brother! Do the new one black over grey with the URAS and it would be too!lol
Awesome that'll be good to see! Cheers pal, was close to going for a jzx81 myself until my z20 popped up. It's 1jz and r154 converted
sent my arms down to my mate and received them back 20mm shorter. put them all in and took it for a drive: thats when i realised: got a bit annoyed and went and sunk a few beers because it was too hot to work on the car then jacked it back up and gave it enough of an eye align to get me to the shop to get a proper one done next week. im looking for around -1 camber and netural toe when static in the rear, considering it can do posi camber im sure that will be achievable hahah.
alots happened since last update, ill let the photos do the talking did some driving parked it for a while. did r box with fresh rebuilt clutch and brand new orc push pull converter Then did garret gt3582r, steam pipe mani, turbosmart 50mm gate Got some minervas Got a legit tezuka/kids heart/freedom carbon bonnet should be up and driving again in the next few weeks. Cant wait to do a skid in it.
I land in Sydney ready for the New Year party, will be doing some travelling hopefully so not sure when I will be in Brisb (working holiday Visa) but if there is any big events at QLDR like Matsuri's etc I will definitely be up for making a trip
Well car now runs and drives, i need to hook up my AFR gauge before i can really give it hell make sure im not leaning it out. No drifting till December but, ill have to test it out locally instead.
Awesome: ) love Cars like this that progress over time while being driven rather than a huge build over years
