Slowly working away this morning New bonnet sourced from Simon Perry and a pas pump as well cause the hose has been crushed back into the pulley and fucked all that up Strpiped the wings and fitted the bonnet Had to unbolt all at hinge's and one bolt in the leg had to be left out atm where it's pushed across but it's at least secure on the car and keeps everything dry Will be looking to pull the motor and box out in a few weeks and then I'm speaking to a decent fabricator about making up a tube front for the car Should be ordering wide FG wings this week And all I need to find parts wise now is a set of headlights Had a few parts I'd ordered before the shunt show up like a decat pipe and a couple of little detail parts Should hopefully only really be the fabricating work and paint that keep the car the longest now Once it's back from welding I'll paint the bay myself and then get the motor back in
So Thursday I went to see a man about fixing this thing and spit ball ideas on what was best He seems pretty good at this fabrication lark We think we've got something planned out and I decided if I'm spending cash id like a cool bay to show for it so we're taking inspiration from this The half tubs are badass and I love the way the lower tube is ran with a swaged plate But on to the actual car All the old kit is off and I haven't found any horrors lurking beneath just 2 nice clean unwelded sills The date I have for the car going to be welded is 24th November so the next month I'll get it stripped back to basically a rolling shell
Glad to see this come back together. I was at the pod day and was absolutely gutted when i saw this crash, looked like a seriously good looking 33!
Like I said it's one of the downsides to the hobby lol No point being all upset about it Cars fixable I'm relatively unhurt it's just an upset old injury and a dented wallet
Slight change but couldn't pass this up The guy who was going to repair my car was going to use his mint r33 shell for measurements to make sure mines correct He decided today he has too many projects going on and did I want to buy his r33 So yea I got a few bits New shell Blasted front subframe Japspeed arms Nismo rear brace
More goodies arrived Little suprise off the GF as we've been together a year Grip royal galaxy with solid spokes And today I got these Flat centred ones are fronts in 18x9.5 et0 Concave are rears 18x11 et10 They're staying boxed up except the one I'm using to fit the over fenders on the new she'll to suit so I mocked it up with these Purple work wheel nuts and caps I've also sorted a deal on a new bonnet Things like this are what's driving me on this rebuild I can see the finished product in my head and it needs to be out on the streets
good to see that this is still going! and I'm a big fan of Steve's work so your car will be sorted well. quick question, was the front bumper still on the car when you crashed?
Jimbaw it was yea so it's totally wrecked now and yea I've seen a lot of his stuff know tobi and dale to put me in touch with him and he does a good job tbh! Drifttrader thank's
Couple of pics from Steve doing the tubs on the back for me 3 1/2 inches of more clearance for wheels Over fenders go on tomorrow and then Thursday it's getting delivered hopefully
So I had to clear up the unit and unfortunately sell my spare supra for this one which made me sad but space in the unit and money I'm my pocket is better than having spares I may never need So yea Skylines are now parked next to each other in the unit So I started fitting up bodywork parts Going to dry build most of the car I think and then any holes that need drilling or brackets welding is done before paint Means it'll be a long process but it will be worth it for the end result Anyway less chatter more pictures Most of the kit on And test fitted a wheel Currently set at like 7 or 8 degrees of camber when that low but when the subframe is lifted and camber arms fitted I should get much better fitment
Not an amazing update but I've got the suspension in the car and chucked the wheels on to see how they fit Sitting a bit high at But no motor/gearbox/glass/fuel tank means it will sit higher on the suspension
I don't think it is sitting high at all. At least not for road use. With motor and all installed it will come down just right. The car looks amazing!
Thanks man I'd like the finished height to be about 50mm lower than its sat here Should still be very use able at that and look the nuts
So I got bored the other day and decided to sort the fitment out on this Give's me a much better idea of how it'll look And it's perfect Rear has too much camber atm but when that's pulled out it'll be perfect I think And I've made a template of the ends for the rear wing These will be getting made in 6mm carbon I think
