Well it’s been a while since I've done a build thread, have been a bit quiet while doing grown up things. But I decided it was time to build something that could be 'fun' and practical when required. I made the decision to import something from Japan, but this came up for sale while it was on the ship makings its journey to the uk. So I went out on a whim and bought it sight unseen, in all its chrome/arch gap glory. Here's the car still in Japan: {} Being Transported from Docks to my mate’s garage: {} {} Few Pictures of it, nice stock base to start from (No one could believe how clean it was underneath/inside Still got all the original engine bay stickers/booklets etc) {} {} {} {} {} The Original wheels while mint weren't to my taste: {} {} A few parts arriving (Can just make out new wheels shoved on to check fitment): {} Wheels and Coilovers (not on their final setting yet J ) now on: {} {} New Kaaz 2-way going in (massive thanks to Driftworks for help- Not easy finding parts for this car) {} {} Lovely 6boost manifold and Borgwarner getting ready to go on: {} {} {} Manifold and turbo on {} {} Intercooler mock up: {} {} Almost there (AEM FIC being Wired in): {} Interior addition: (Boost controller hidden in glove-box too) {} Car back home all running- low boost to start with (Still alot of chrome) {} {} De-Chromed: {} {} Roof rails removed: {} {} {} Then had problem with the Borgwarner s200sx turbo- so upgraded to a s360sx {} {} Center Silencer removed: {} continued on next post {}

Fake Nardis make Baby Jesus cry. I like these but they really do look like a hearse! How is it with the auto box? Pretty responsive when it's in manual?
What gearbox cooler are you running? Need to put a new rad in my chaser, and can't find one with a build in gearbox cooler.
Mark is not the sort pf guy to buy a fake Nardi, haha. Glad to see you back with a project car Mark. What issues did you have with the other turbo?
Running stock ECU with AEM FIC-6 controlling fueling (with auto box being the limiting factor power-wise anything else seems a bit unnecessary, plus the aim of the car was a practical, loud turbo spool, burnout daily) Haha I'm sure you know I'm not one for fake's normally but had good reason this time, with the autobox and cruise control being integral the the steering wheel I needed to attach the buttons and lever directly to the wheel, Which I wasn't willing to butcher a 'Proper' Nardi till I'd trialed it with the one currently fitted. Yer they do a bit- black isnt helping its case to be fair. Again for what I planned at the beginning of the build its ideal- can select gears using buttons on steering wheel- ideal for commute to work. Just running a generic aftermarket cooler that is not integral to a radiator. Seems to be doing a good job so far Ha ha Cheers mate, usually your right (see reply above in regards to Fardi) Thanks, enjoyed having a tinker as always I have gone a little further than planned lol The previous turbo issue was just a mistake on the oil drain causing it to over pressure the turbo and damaging the CHRA. Couple of pics of recent headlight refurb: {} {} {} {}
Another Crown Esate owner! I have a Series II that is going to be to be R154'd next year, as I want to run a Link and a top mount. running BCs as well, what spring rate did you go for? Going to be having a slippy diff in mine but using a GT86 as that more or less drops in. Having fun with the shite E-throttle yet?? if you are facebook, join JZMafia, there are quite a few Crown owners on there. https://www.facebook.com/groups/jzmafia/ {} {}
Ah, makes complete sense! HBK do a Cruise boss but doesn't solve your shift problem I guess. Does it have a gated +/- shifter or just 2/L and then shift on the wheel? I have a big DND Katana shifter if you're keeping the auto if I can interest you They are cool, for sure, I'd certainly consider it as a daily
That's a lot of nice work. On a very mundane level - I'd be interested in how you wired the rear fog light at the lamp unit end, as I have the same job to do.
I love Crown Athletes. This ones cool. I did like the chrome trim and boot badges in a weird way though. I've always done rear foglights by snipping the live wire for drivers side rear foglight and using that with a red bulb in it. Keeps a nice OEM look without an ugly rear foglight in the way and passes MOT's completely legally.
Awesome, wasn't sure there'd be any other owners on here Yer definitely a good list of mod's there, if I ever decided to turn this into more of a 'serious' car I'd go manual with link ecu. Just the spring rates that it came with (which I can't remember), but will be going heavier to suit my usual preference. What about yourself? Ahh didn't realise you could, managed to sort one through driftworks which came spec'd with the new quiet engagement coating I will join now, Cheers Really wish I knew that 12 months ago lol Yer just the 2/L and shifting on the wheel. Haha not really my thing, but thanks Great daily's super practical- 1JZ noises- only downside is the amount of people that ask what car it is, get more attention in this car than all my others?! which is crazy as its one of the more tame ones haha Wish I could answer that for you, but my mate did it before it went for MOT, I will ask him next time I see him Thanks mate, haha I really wasn't a fan, just cheapens the look for me I amazed how many people own them on here Growing in popularity All painted- few bits professionally couple of bits by myself with cans Cheers mate Weathers been too shitty for getting car cleaned but next dry day and I'll get some new pics up, had front and rear bumpers painted to tidy up as it come over with a few parking scraps.
This is amazing, I've been looking at getting a Toyota crown for a couple weeks now and this gets me excited. I know this is an old thread, but do you have an instagram or anything? I wanted to ask you some questions and also see more pictures!
