Hey guys, so this is now a new shortened version of my build thread after photobucket took a dump on everybody by changing it's hosting rights i'll be able to reduce the initial 1200 pictures down into a more compact version of a thread haha starting a fresh because i cannot be bothered going through every post and editing links etc so here goes, lets wind the clock back 4-5 years at the begining of basically a nut and bolt rebuild haha my bone stock s14 silvia sr20de n/a import from japan {} 1 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr mint {} 2 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr crap {} 3 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr 5 stud swap, wheels and cs2 coilovers {} 4 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr {} 5 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr rolling road for a baseline to know how much a jz engine could change the car {} 6 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr 126bhp at the wheels, pretty sure a yaris has more {} 7 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr some work equips i didn't keep for long as the offset wasn't right {} 8 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr drift day with the n/a to see what it's like, 3rd gear is possible with enough pressure in the back tyres and lots of throttle {} 9 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr {} 10 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr {} 11 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr then up at a local small track {} 12 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr new exhaust {} 13 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr bought an r154 gearbox from phil at driftworks from the r32 {} 14 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr got a 4.3 r32 skyline diff and had it welded {} 15 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr r33 shafts {} 16 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr r200 s14 turbo rear subframe as my car had the r180 diff and frame so wasn't any use, had it powedercoatd and solid dw bushes installed {} 17 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr bought a 1j {} 18 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr stripped box for shifter extension {} 19 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr clutch arrived {} 20 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr

i'd bought alot of parts from this company also which turned out to have issues, a new turbo....found an owen dev sticker on the housing called up owen dev and quoted the number, they said it was rebuilt and off a bdc car....awesome got that back but as for the block etc i was told i'd marked it with a screw driver and it's my own fault.....yeah so basically i had to start from the begining minus the money i'd paid so far i'm not to mention his name as i'd not like to be done for slander for making damaging accusations but i guess you just learn who not to deal with in the motorsport trade! thankfully i didn't use the engine as it would have burned oil and all sorts so.....cut to a few months down the line, i had no money and a half built car after selling my 1j+r154 setup and piling all the money into the parts for the new build i got in contact with DY engine services, dave yandell, he suggested oversizing my block which means new pistons and rods again and another set of bearings+arp studs etc i just went with it and put it on my credit card because i had to! otherwise i'd have an expensive useless tin on wheels dave worked his magic, block hot tanked and painted, .5mm oversized so bores were like brand new {} 106 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr {} 107 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr {} 108 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr {} 109 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr {} 110 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr {} 111 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr so now i spent a little while saving and paying off stuff etc, then moved onto turbo choice, fast spooling over lag gtx3582r, t3 divided .83 housing, 4" intake, 2.5 intercooler out {} 112 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr link g4 {} 113 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr

heat changed colour of the torques an fittings {} 159 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr back to dyno and had boost turned up {} 158 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr {} 157 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr the car was mapped up to 2 bar of boost and made something over 600hp, unsure on exact figure due to wheel spin but it's insane. so i need to go back with some 265 r888's now to make sure i can get grip and we will do a proper power run as for now, the car insurance was set to expire the day after mapping so it's just been put into storage since august, i've had other priorities to sort out just now....turbo converting my supra haha it'll get back out in 2018 and insured and ready to rock around march/april time but for now it's just needing some overfenders on the rear since the 1/4 was reshaped by stevie's s14 during a drift session and it'll mean i can run stupidly wide rear wheels also dumping these in here for my own reference incase i'm ever stuck without them, boost controller references p1: wastegate pressure no boost controller p2 - 1.2 bar, 40 gain =25 p3 - 1.5 bar = 50 gain =25 p4 - 1.8 bar = 60 gain =25 p5 - 2 bar = 65 gain =25
just read this got to say my dream combo love this car have you put up a thread about your supra your building?would love to see some footage
I'd need 35 grand haha, only way I'd ever sell this car, would have to be a stupid price for me to ever hand the keys over as I've built my dream sbody that I've wanted to own for years and years. sounds ridiculous when you read it back haha but I can't ever imagine myself without this car
it works really good, tbh it feels the same as the r154 with 4.3 diff I use 3rd gear when drifting a lot because the turbo comes on boost so quick that there's little to no lag now, 2nd gear is gone almost too quick, it's fine for when you really slow down if chasing someone on a tight couple of corners, but otherwise I just leave it in 3rd and sometimes have been into 4th when there's enough space to stretch it's legs I think working it out, the ratio's work out to feeling the same as having a 4.3 back end again with the beemer box and the 3.6. the 3.6 was the lowest ratio I could get with no hassle, I believe there are certain models of r200 diffs with 3.1 etc etc which would have been interesting on long drives I think form memory it sat at 3300 at 70mph :S and for all the time the car was on the road I've not managed to find out when it stops in 5th, will do that on dyno next time it's in for a power run
5 year on update, kids and covid came so i broke the engine and performance parts as i was going to need some extra cash and had other things going on the car was finished on the dyno, was out for i think 2 evenings then the insurance ran out, so with the youngest child's due date coming up i decided to shelf the car, then the idea came to strip the running gear out and get some money back then slowly build it back into a nice road car some of these pics are not in the correct order, it had some overfenders fitted to the rear in plans for large wheels arches cut out and welded up higher {} {} so that was 2018 {} {} {} went to a show mid 2020 / early 2021 everything started getting pulled {} {} {} {} everything was sold that was related to the 1.5jz, loom, fuel pumps, injectors, ecu etc, roll cage gone, fancy seats gone, anything i didn't see any reason to keep hold of and was good at taking in money the next thing on the list was to have the little cage bolt holes welded up and sealed etc then i began the slow long process of just building the car again but taking my time and having no time limit bought another subframe and started stripping it down to have it refreshed the idea here is to use polybushes instead of solid bushes now, i want this back on the road as a nice road car with speakers and back seats and comfort fast road spec as i'm getting old now and have no patience for loud fuel pumps or roll cages anymore {} and a nice fully stock 35k mile 200sx s14 turbo manual differential NON WELDED! factory lsd! {} bought a front cut off another s14a breaker as i have a plan to return to stock front pannel, build a nice oem finished 1jz powered car here, bonnet cable and catch, no more aero catches or tube front {} {} {} once that was all welded up, i got onto the other job, i had one week of ramp usage in the workshop so had to pull many late nighters to get it done started grinding back the floor again to do a full refresh on the shell, underneath was still amazing condition as the stonechip i'd applied back in 2010 or whenever it was has preserved the shell very well, plus it basically hasnt seen a wet road in over 10 years {} hit most seams etc with anti rust converter stuff and then applied red oxide primer {} should have dropped the tank for this bit {} {} got some nice new poly subframe mount and diff bushes fitted, also ordered the sr autobodies bolt kit for the rear end {} {}
