Picked up a manual E39 535i that had been sitting idle for quite some time I reckon but for a decent price.
    I’m terrible with electrics aswell
    So here
When I indicate the light stays solid for a while before it flashes and goes solid again.
All the dash lights flicker on and off constant.
And this is the best. When the headlights are turned off they flicker on and off constantly. But stay on solid when their actually turned on.
Although when flicked to high beam it takes a while before they actually do it and does it one light at a time.

Does Anyone have any idea what it might be apart from possessed
    Cheers in advance

Probs a battery related issue mate. I have had fairly similar issues. Dash dies after car runs for about 10 second, lights flicker etc.

So the battery in the car was half the size of what should be in it. Replaced it with correct sized new one and still no luck. Gonna take the LCM out now

So after removing the LCM there’s no obvious sign of scorched components

Haven’t updated this as I’ve been away with work and quite busy but after speaking to a very helpful bloke who bet it was the main chip in the LCM causing all the drama it’s been fixed. £30 on eBay for the LCM. If I wanted to get rid of the little red light on the dash I could get it programmed but not bothered for now. But there’s more .....

So before I went away I noticed the clutch pedal was lowering to the floor when braking. Assumed it needed bleeding so didn’t take much notice.
    Came back to this
Clutch pedal fully on the floor. Can be brought back up with your hand but doesn’t engage the clutch at all. Can start it in first and still drive even with the pedal down.
My guess is the master cylinder above the pedal. Anyone had this before or know what it will be before I change the master cylinder ?? Cheers
