I'm looking at a possible IS200 / 300 - MX5 or maybe a E36 or just a cheap skid car (Daily), id love to do a boosted build for abit of fun.

Could I get away with lowering the engine compression, larger injectors, maybe a better fuel pump and a raising rate fuel pressure regulator? !!! It will be a low boost set up !!!!

Turbo or supercharger not to unhappy either way :smokin:

I can do all the work myself just want to know if anyone has had any experience with this route  also an excuse to work on my fab skills

and yes I know its a cheap out way of doing it but just a little bit of fun :euge:

Should be alrite at low boost, plenty of people do it with the MX5.

Don't even need to lower the compression ratio as it's already low enough.

Hey r3k1355 cheers for the input  think I may start with the MX5 option anyways there cheap enough ;)

would you go as far to say that they could be "reliable..ish" on low boost?
and would you know how much HP - Torque you could get out of said set up?
plus when ive had enough of blowing up the stock motor theres always the V6 option :alschaser

Yea a lot boost conversion would see 150 or so BHP on the 1.6, touch more on the 1.8.
The engine will be plenty reliable, but a bad install can easily blow one up.

Check the Car Passion Channel on youtube. He did a video series with 30 episodes detailing exactly how to do it:

merc clk/slk 2.3 compressor, already boosted, around 200bhp, cheap, engine internals good for twice the power.
    Strip and slide :)

I did look at the 1.8 komp are they also good for turning up the boost etc?

Id love to have a look at the 2.3 but price and insurance is against me :(
