Been on this forum a while now, but this is my first build thread. Wanted to do a build thread for a while now but never got round to it, but seeing as ive had this car a while i guess this is a good chance to do one. Im sure this car will divide opinions. Insta: @freerb25
{} So the car, its a factory rb25det manual, bought the car not quite modified to my taste but being a 4 door turbo and manual it ticked enough boxes for me! {} {} Within a few weeks i fitted new tyres to my advans wheels i had left over from a previous project, made a few little mods and painted the door handles and it was looking a lot better imo.
How it sits at the moment, its forever changing. I do have some long term plans, but the main objective at the moment is to drive it and have as much fun as possible. {} {}
It's funny how trends change. I had an r33 4 door rb25det manual with intercooler, alloy rad, 3" exhaust, bc coilovers & blitz wheels going back 7 years ago & I couldn't give it away. Ended up going to a jap car breakers for £1700.
Cheers fifi! Yes its odd! Ive always prefered 4 doors myself. I dont think many people were interested in this when i got it but it seems theyve become a bit more popular in recent years.
Little update on this, done a few drifts and fitted a few bits nothing too major. Went to the forest and got some pics of the old girl. {} {} {} {} Ordered these quick release bonnet fastners but didnt really think about if theyd be compatible with the standard bonnet, might just chance it, can always use them on the front bumper if not. {}
Quite a thread bump, didn’t realise how long it had been! Been to a few drift days, fixed and upgraded things that have broken made a few general modifications. It was bothering me was that the big blitz intercooler was partially blocked off so I took inspiration from the gtr bumper and after some careful measurements cut some holes. {} Got a pair of these recaro seats and after going to the trouble of making a pretty decent seat rail I decided they weren’t as comfortable as the stock seats, they were very pretty and and a little bit more supportive but I didnt want to compromise the comfort of the car, so I decided to run the stock seat with a harness. {} Got some bling password jdm radiator brackets {} Colour coded the splitter, blacked the roof and fitted some canards and removed my lower metal canards and the front grill {} Another day another set of wheels, very ugly wheels {} Did a drift day and the water got a bit hot, so I fitted an alloy rad with a new overflow tank, full silicone hose kit and flushed the coolant. Had to modify the radiator cap as it just touched the bonnet when it was pushed down hard {} The old splitter was looking a bit shit, wanted a new one but I didn’t like any I’ve seen for sale so I thought I’d modify one... from a civic type R! How hard can it be I thought, very hard it turned out! But I’m happy with how it looks now so it’s all good. Also had a new windscreen fitted. {} There’s loads more I’ve done but this has taken a while so I’ll update it again tomorrow or something idk {}
Ages since a decent update on this thing so here we go. Went to japfest and got some track time with my friend in his r32 which was great fun, surprisingly they didn’t say anything about not drifting in the briefing, so we managed to get a few skids in {} New HKS air filter {} Picked up a replacement door for my dented one, yet to paint and fit it {} Got some rays wheels for when I’m ready to switch to 18s, very light can just about hold them with one finger {} {} There was a couple of bits bothering me so I got a load of stuff blasted and powder coated to make them pretty again, fitted polybushs to the anti roll bars. {} 90’s street night with the bois {} Went to rockingham and had a blast, car did well all day, drive there and back. The only thing that failed was the voltage regulator on the alternator which got rebuilt a week later. Glad I had a chance to drive there before it closes. {} Modified my sideskirts to fit a 4 door {} Painted and fitted {} Bit of a crashu resulting in a nice big chunk taken out of my genuine work emotion still holds air somehow {} {} That’s it up till now, still just enjoying the car and looking forward to getting back out there.
