Yeah buddy! Was talking to Dunker yesterday and he said your 100 was the cleanest he's ever seen

I went out on Track 3 in a jzx100 Chaser yesterday with a 3.7 and the ratio definitely felt too tall. The owner is on the hunt for a 4.1 now

Are you doing/done anything swaybar-wise in the rear? Sorry if you've covered it already

Your 100 gave me tight pants when I needed to leave a train journey. Totally worth it good find with the kit and the gearbox! Wish Toyota UK were as helpful as nz seem to

Classic! Yeah mate I actually found a good deal on a second hand pair of Cusco bar's. They've done around 1000km and pretty much look new... managed to save quite a bit on buying new.

Lot's of people told me these will make a massive difference in handling.. which I feel hasn't been great in comparison to the 180sx... I can't actually remember if the 110 had them or not haha.

The gearbox is installed and manual conversion is 99% done, diff built and installed, swaybars installed.. I need to take it for an alignment next week and then it's getting certified. Fingers crossed I get it back on Friday.

I'm researching seats at the moment, can't decide on whether to get a Bride Zeta 3 or a pair of Evo 10 Recaro's.

Got the car back on the weekend, super stoked, the 4.1 is awesome, 1st and 2nd gear pull really well. The box is different that's for sure, my first time driving an R154 and I was warned and now can confirm it feels like a truck box haha.

I now need to get the car certfied which is a fairly lengthy process in NZ, hopefully this can be sorted next week and I can book my first track day.

My obsession with headlights doesn't seem to be going away.. I jumped on a set of 'brick' Mark II headlights, I'm honestly not sure what type of Mark II these even came standard on, but they are pretty different to the standard 3 bulb variants the car has now... I don't think they're HID, and obviously they are 2 bulb and have black housings.

    vs:

    dsc_0214.

They are pretty cloudy but I'm sure I can make them look mint again, so a bit of a side project. I also scored a Zeta 3 which is about 6 months old for a good price, I'm not overly keen on the graduation colour but it doesn't look bad against the fake carbon interior.. I may order some black graduation replacement cushions If it bugs me in the car.

Happy New Year. Got the car back, 100% street legal, have driven it over the last 3 weeks and its been faultless, very happy.

    img_2307-2.
Got some super low rails for the bride and installed it, have also ordered some plain black cushions aswell as I can't stand the graduation.

    img_3036.

Refurbished the headlights, yet to go in.
    img_2068.

And got given a foam wash kit for Christmas which is awesome.

Bidding on some ganadors at the moment and just leaving the motor standard for now... kinda similar to the last few cars I've had.

I managed to score a good condition pair last night off Yahoo, I think I paid around $300 less than what the last pair I saw for sale locally went for...

Right bit of an update... I've had an issue with the wheel lips for a while, just not really looking great, water marks that I couldn't budge... had a mate recommend Autosol… so gave it a go and it worked wonders.. would really recommend it... my lips are from threepiece.us so if anyone picks up a set.. use this stuff.

    65134f4f-42bc-4509-bc31-386a5def3a0e-1.

You can see the watermarks and scratches are basically gone now.. I'm sure I could get them even better if I wanted to spend a few more hours but really happy with how they came out.

    img_3327-1.

And it didn't take long to start looking at the audio side of things

    img_3492-2.

and I managed to find some Ganadors off Yahoo which cost an arm and a leg but f*ck it.

Got the Bride pillows sorted, seat looks much better although already getting a sheen from my arm getting in and out haha.

I'm going to get the centre console retrimmed in black and might look for a passenger seat at some point but their seem to be no Bride Brix 1.5 or 2 in NZ right now and importing a seat from Japan is stupid expensive.

Thanks bro's and Ben you're not wrong mate! Running out of stuff to do.. I do like the smaller jobs tho.. takes my mind of work and really enjoy documenting the stuff.. I guess most of my builds have been that way.

It's a pity that JZX100.com has been shut down and all the good info that was on there is now lost.. I wanted to upgrade the front speakers in my car and I had such good luck with the Alpine Type S 6.5" components in the 180sx I just went and bought the same again, they are not amped or anything like that... anyway here's a guide on how to install 6.5" components into a JZX100, I used a Dremel to make things a bit easier, I used all of the factory mounts and wiring and it's worked a treat.. this should only take about an hour max to do!

Track day booked for this weekend, can't wait, first track day for me in this car and although it's a grip day I'm looking forward to giving the car a bit of a hiding, a good mate of mine is bringing his Laurel as well so should be fun chasing him around.

I have noticed the front brakes fading a tad after long drives, so along with picking up a service pack from Toyota I grabbed some Hawk pads, no idea how they will go but let's find out.

    5a1e25a4-cca1-45e9-92b5-65aa47ca9344-e1554025329867.

I also did a bit of a road trip and visited Highlands motorsport park in the South Island.. I got to drive a Radical SR3 on full slicks which was absolutely insane... by far the fastest thing I've ever driven and the cornering speed was nuts... I ran out of talent pretty quickly tbh, the car could do so much more..

    img_4189.

On the back of that trip I've decided to do as much driving as possible over the coming months so bought a helmet to start of with and will pick up some overalls at some point too.

    d2202f8a-1529-4de4-81a1-0c9b2e5eb31b-e1554026383244.

Back at Toyota they found some old Vertex stock - boot lips and roof spoilers which they weren't sure if for Mark II or Chaser... so I grabbed them as they won't be bringing any more into the country and they are pretty subtle compared to Dmax / Origin comparisons.

Track day went well.. car didn't fall apart, bonus. Really stoked how the car went, although being left behind by STI's, M3's and multiple others was a bit average, and I learned very quickly my brakes are no good after about 4 laps!

    35168f88-e39c-467a-b8fe-f59e0a5945ec.

I debeaded a tyre and I think I've done a wheel bearing but will do some further investigating, from here I want to try a learner drift day out and see how it goes.. Diff felt pretty good as well...

So the brake situation has escalated pretty quickly.. I looked into a few options - LS400, Wilwood, Project Mu & Supra TT...

LS400 - I don't think you can buy new, which was a put off, considering most of the stuff I've put on this car is new. clamping pressure seemed mixed by way of review, and it would have been shit to do it and then have the same issues.

Wilwood Superlite 4 Piston - was close to buying these, great feedback from IS300 owners who run them, the only reason I didn't go for them was cosmetics - I don't like the way the caliper looked.

Project Mu - Price is an issue to say the lest.

So I ended up getting some new Supra TT calipers from Toyota to start and will add a bit of a write up when the other bits come in... however the lead time on the adapter's is noted as 6 weeks which seems crazy!

So I've paid for everything I need for the front brake upgrade now, just waiting on the adapters to get here from Figs, I picked up the discs the other day, much much bigger than stock

    508b3811-ad7e-4a4c-b222-1e26bda3187e.

The next track day I have booked is the start of July so hoping to get at least the fronts on before then. I've also ordered a set of rear adapters from Japan and when they land I'll do the rear calipers and rotors as well, although there may be an issue with the handbrake I'll need to work through. They're going to look so much better than stock as well haha.

I also got the Vertex Roof and Boot Lip wing's painted, they came out great, really like how subtle they are.

    Finally a decent update...

Deleted the centre muffler from my exhaust as well as extended the rear muffler so it sat better, probably got a bit too carried away haha.

    0313f2d7-9881-4c53-b5da-54cf1b86d884.

VSKF are for sale, replaced them with these Gramlight 57C6
    9ef394e7-67a5-4de9-a529-ce0b360509a4-e1563790718369.

    Got the front brakes on
    41a8cb2e-59fd-4c5a-9ff9-1eca76af10da.

Trying some random Semi slick for now.
    img_8685-e1564205377986.

    How it currently sits.
    img_8733.
    img_8729.

So it's now running 18x9.5+12 all around, the front is absolutely spot on with a 225/40 but the rear pokes a bit much for my liking so I'm gong to try to pull the guards a bit and dial out some camber as well.

Supra brakes so far are absolutely amazing, I find myself braking too early and having to speed up for corners... I can't wait to get back to the track to see how long they last. Once you pressed the figs adapters in everything was straight bolt on and we had them on within an hour.
