Is that an MX5? I've heard they don't drift very well, is that true?

How much would it be to buy a decent one and mod it a little to get it ready for drifting?

They do drift very well. Less than a Ton in weight so low power isnt an issue. The Engines are pretty bullet proof too.

But, they love to rot and the roof can leak by the door, which means you get greeted to a soaking wet seat, or you get pissed on when driving.

Find a solid one with a hard top. Get the diff welded, Bucket seat, Job done.

My last one, the stock suspension was so soft, it caused me to under steer all the time. literally wouldn't drift at all, even with 60psi in the back tyres lol

I am rocking a stock lock 1.8 MX5 at the moment. I've got a bucket seat, welded diff, Meister R coilovers, and a good set of front sticky tyres. Including buying the car I'm probably only 2k into it and it doesn't need anything else. Maybe rack spacers for a bit of extra lock, but honestly it drives great.

MX5 is a good starting point. Mine (1.6) was as quick (if not a bit quicker) than my mates 318 coupe. Car cost me just under £1k, probably another £1k in bits and it's been a blast. Done a dry drift day at Smeatharpe and one wet track at Rockingham, honestly in the wet it kept up with a turbo MK1 well enough, just about grip and throttle control.
If you get one invest in a quality roll bar like a TR lane of GCfabs.

Which specific model of Meister R? I looked them up and they vary between £450 to £1800 for front and rear...

So I test drove an MX5 and I dont think they're for me, I've been looking around though and 350z seems to be thrown around a lot, would that be a good choice?

They are great cars to drift out of the box with minimal modding. Plenty of parts available too

You might struggle to get one sub 3k though
