new To the drift scene went three sisters the other day and loved it!! just bought a 316 compact with the 328 engine in, I need to strip it out yet and change some bits like bottom arms and what not. It’s still running on it’s original 1.6 Diff will this need changing or will I be ok just welding it up??

I could do with as much help as possible tips on set ups and practice days.

Having done the stripped out compact thing for 3 years, i'd advise leaving the carpets in and a few creature comforts to make it a nice place to be. Mine was fucking awful to be in.

Haha well I’ve just stripped it out today but left only the gearstick console and dash in and the carpet underneath that..‍♂️ Oh well live and lean hah.

Is there any regulation list in regards to the build like fuel tank, roll cage etc?
Really need as much help tbh I don’t wanna look a tool on my first day

Don't wanna look a tool? Weld that diff and go and get seat time. Dont worry about spec.

I mean like do some places not bother about a roll cage? I’m northwest so will be going Buxton and three sisters mainly.

99% of places aren't worried about a cage for practice days fella, keep it simple keep it fun and build the car as you progress :)

I’ve been told that they are to snappy and will be better with a coupe? But I’m like well if I can learnin something that’s hard then anything else should be relatively easy?? Seems legit in my head haha

Ive recently picked up a e36 320i just to beat the shit out of it. The steering rack seals completely failed, cracked the sump, lost an engine mount, completely smashed up the rear quaterpanel and its still running and making me smile after aprox 25-30 sets of rear tyres. Its more than enough to weld the diff, get your handbrake working as it should to have alot of fun.
