Havnt been on here and updated this for quite a while now due to our "summer" being here and motorcycle riding and racing weather is upon us so all my time has been spent on the bikes..

However I have been using the 5 for a daily and it has been spot on doing little skuds for the kuds here and there! I pritty much finished the build off in the first 3 weeks of owning this so about time to get the pics up.

The eyelet needed for the hydro arrived and was correct, the first test of the hydro was yanking on it at 70mph on a dry road and it instantly locked the wheels! It's been working on point for the last few months it's really powerful and needs barley any pull to lock up straight away so really happy with that it's been alot of fun!!

Heres a pic of the first master that bent instantly...

So it was a nice sunny Sunday and as the soft top was no longer needed time to pull it out and shave a little weight, thanks to my buddy Lew for lending a hand and his nice Ryobi tools, It was a nice easy job even after a few beers!

The soft top was surprisingly heavy to be fair! Anyone looking for a soft top glass hit me up I have a perfect one I removed.

It looks so much cleaner without it! Also now have a handy storage space.

Next was to sort the rubber as the 3 week old brand new tyres on the rear where now pritty much dead...
So on with the standard skid wheels for the time being and I placed an order for a pair of Uniroyal rainsport 3s which I heard good things about for front end grip!

Impressed with the quality of the Uniroyals look decent with a cool tread pattern even got sharks on em hah
    IMG_20190320_125944.
I went with a fatter side wall for a tad less stretch and a more chunky look and hopefully abit softer ride, I went from a 195/45 to 195/50, I did want a 205 but couldn't get it.
    IMG_20190320_125952.
Finally looking like a proper skid car now full of tyres :)

I took the wheels and tyres to my boy Ian to use his tyre machine I pulled off the old tyres and chucked the new ones on, however they were still abit too streched to blow on to the rim easily and it was getting late and I was starving so left it.

The next day I did something I always wanted to try and that was fitting tyres by fire!

    More to follow..

Could only find some hairspray at work but this did the trick perfectly!

As I imagined I would be slidding this in the wet most of the time and we live in England... I bought a sexy new set of wipers, you cant beat the aero twins!

Found a nice set of solid plastic door bushes that had been 3d printed so replaced the old knacked rubber ones and actually did notice a difference, the car was noticeably stiffer which to be honest I was quite surprised with but also happy as it seem to handle better for it!

Time to chuck the old girl on the ramp and swap the wheels around, new rainsports on the front and the budgets to the back, also took the time to adjust the rear camber to get those rears straighter and wearing better! Adjusted the tyre pressures 25 front 55 rear if I wanna skid if not 40ish all round.

Had to re-adjust the coilovers to accept the new tyre profile a bit but its sitting pritty I will order another pair of tyres for the rear soon in the same profile to match it up.

Just a heads up, don't put the fronts to more than 32 ish PSI, they'll feel wank. I ran mine at 32 on the road, 28 at the track and it was lovely. Looking mint though man! Shame I'm breaking mine in the coming weeks, probably keeping the good bits to build a MK1 though.

I think mx5's attract more mx5's haha before I knew it I was in a miata gang lol seems to be a really good following for these little cars and I can see why, so much fun for a 100hp 1.6l

Get a drift car they said, it will be fun they said...

    IMG_20190610_235011.

Out for a midnight slide as it was pouring down with rain so perfect for the 5, I realise now why you don't want strechted tyres on the back :/ popped the tyre off the rim and got soaked in the process of changing it over to the space saver, also anyone who has driven a welded diff car with a space saver on one side knows how sketchy that is lol

Shout out to a dude called Scott in a e36 skid car, him and his boys were out slidding and stopped to make sure I was good and offered a hand! Cheers dude

luckily absolutely no damage to the car the rim didn't even touch the ground so all good, was also 2 mins away from the rents house so went back to swap to the standard rears and now time to order a new set of tyres to match the profile of the front!

    IMG_20190611_194108.

    Look at that fitment bro!

    IMG_20190611_194100.

Who says mx5's aren't practical, look at that boot space!

    IMG_20190804_120842.

Was about time to change them out anyways!

    IMG_20190804_120700.

New tyres came, went with the Toyo tr1's in the same chunkier profile as the front, these tyres arnt for slidding I've got 4 standard wheels and tyres for that!

    IMG_20190704_125859.

A few nice days of sun so whipped the hard top off for the last time before winter.

    IMG_20190704_125824.

Thought I may aswell do another full service on the girl before the winter, I like to service all my cars 2 to 3 times more often than what the manufacturer says... It may be a problem I have but also my cars always run spot on and never give me issues so worth the monies!

    IMG_20190804_132015.

    IMG_20190804_133423.

So did another oil flush and oil change using fully synth, oil filter change, blew the air filter out and re-oiled it but its still like new, changed the plugs again but really didn't need to they've been in there like 2500 miles, ngk always! This time put a new set of thicker 8mm silicone ht leads on her, new fuel filter, also decided to chuck on all new auxiliary belts because why not! Finished with topping off the Coolant, washers fluids and a general once over of the whole car, the diff oil is still brand new as well as the gearbox oil, I also fitted magnetic sump plugs all round the first time so cleaned them off and replaced the washers, the cam belt is really recent and the brake fluid is all new. The car is running so sweet after that freshen up absolutely spot on!

    IMG_20190804_120541.
    IMG_20190804_120625.

The engine bay needs a proper clean up and detail havnt done that yet but with the weather this shite I'm not gunna waste my time!

Next was to fit the new rear tyres, with fire again went perfect.

    IMG_20190804_145126.

Tyres on and fitment looking sweet nice to have the car sitting equally now and the tyres grip real well which is nice, still easy enough to break loose in the damp but need to reframe from that to save these tyres haha

    IMG_20190804_150129.

    IMG_20190804_150116.

Nothing left to do on the old girl for now, she's running spot on and everything is fresh just put a 12 month mot on it and it flew through!

It works so well better than any other I've seen, but I have heard normally people have issues with mx5 hydros, I honestly don't know why this one works so well... sorry to rub it in haha

    Does your mx5 have abs?
