So been thinking of doing a build thread for a while just to get feedback and to hopefully help anyone else putting themselves through this torture

Anyway I’m John, from Ireland and this is my c33

    E2454D75-0D8C-4A4F-8F2F-E91774EC8B3E.
    85F4BA00-1E3F-448C-A953-DC471E5813A3. D1B81255-E76A-4C8E-AA16-6FBEE3E90F44. E24D1BBD-2C40-4F61-B48B-CC4B9ADC1E25.

At least that was it until I bought it....

I bought it off a friend of mine that is converting his Datsun pick up so he wanted the full sr20 running gear, also he kept the wheels (I didn’t like them at the time but sarting to regret it )

It also came with standard interior.

So after all that is gone it’s still a really clean c33 that has been painted black mica and hasn’t seen road since, has a full cds cage, has all new adjustable DW arms front and back, new DW HSD coilovers, Solid subframe and diff bushings , r33 gtst rear subframe and big brakes all round :worthy:

So far Iv completely stripped the interior and sanded and primed the cage
    344D4867-B934-4D13-BC66-2387631E031B.
    (No pics of it primed)

I welded on a bracket to mount a mechanical handbrake which is needed for an NCT here (used to have a foot brake when it was auto but there’s a clutch there praise the lord :smokin:)
    FC0CFA37-2D49-49F1-A46A-1E512A68ABA1.

Two weeks ago I bought an engine, bought a 2jz gte vvti because well.... why the hell not C12A4DDC-6D4E-4749-BE74-9EB8FCF1FDE7.

That kicked me into gear to start doing some work to it so I painted the cage this weekend BD6A6329-20EA-4175-A309-28E659B4CCB2. CF5F2737-8438-4E97-BED1-945AC08FA40B.
It came out surpriseingly good to be honest, I want to get a clear coat with a pink flake but don’t know where this can be got if anyone can help? :D

I started looking up wireing diagrams for the 2jz and to be honest it doesn’t look too hard to wire but we will see when the time comes. Got the mounts to bolt the 2j to the s14 front subframe D72BACEC-222B-43F8-AB0A-6591382415F2.

I have ordered some s14 poly engine mounts which should be here this week and also the front half of a prop to suit an r154 box ( although after I ordered it I’m told the laurel has a longer prop than the s13 the prop was in but il worry about that when the time comes too)

So ya that’s where I am with it really, I need a clutch and flywheel, r154 gearbox, radiator and wheels. When I have it running il be putting a big single turbo on it and some more bits as I want to make some good power.

Will keep this updated when I get more done

Ok so a bit of an update, got the 2jz brackets on the engine, was waiting for the s14 mounts to come to put in the engine but want to tidy up the engine bay before I put it in.
    4C7E8787-EB80-4638-B94E-C2082BB0DE43.
Started moving the fuse box to under the dash
    54A8BB9E-8907-4705-AC30-92B47116D979.
That was during it I nearly have them back into the car now.
I took off the rear calipers and sprayed them
    07D98C65-31FB-4187-9457-A8F41F01F0F3. FA8FAA02-0301-4968-94AF-26D41A5A3914.

Clear coated the cage, got clear with pink flake and put on loads of coats so it’s very glittery, hard get a good picture of it tho  A1197978-6465-41C3-B243-9394EFF943C1.

Going to try get the wiring finished this weekend and get the engine in to measure up the space I have for the rad and stuff.

    Will update when anything happens,

Ok so some bad news.... the engine won’t drop in because the twin turbos are hitting the pipe that goes from the clutch master cylinder to the slave cylinder

The good news I suppose though is that I’m going to have to just go single turbo straight away o_O

I started a thread on this so hopefully someone gets back to me during the week while I pull the twin turbos off :D

Here’s a pic of how we got the engine in just for everyone’s entertainment :p 01441AF8-32F4-4D3A-B4EC-5B3978B54AEC.

Also my bride super low rails came during the week and I’m heading off to collect a bride brix tonight 695F3D50-5D7C-4F17-A74D-5FBC049F4261.

That’s a pic of it, I have a very clean zeta in my drift car which il probably use in the laurel but il cross that bridge when I get the wireing tidied up and the interior back in ;)

    That’s it for now :worthy:

    Thanks man :D
Didn’t know they were rare, I’d nearly prefer the look of a really clean red interior myself but either way they’re just too high for me as I’m 6’2 and my head hits the cage with the standard armchairs in it :p

Been on holidays and been away the last few weekends so only god around to doing a bit more this weekend.

Bought a greddy rb rad from an r32 9864FFED-F4D5-4573-87C8-61CE89994D04.
Fits straight into the c33 with inlet and outlet on the same side which is what I wanted. Had to cut the top water pipe on the 2j to get rid of the bend A9E34E48-B60F-4261-B278-A6A273717732.

Gave the rad a quick clean and put it in to see how the pipes fit . BA66353B-7AED-47AC-8F14-6DF952457864.

    6A0E3CA5-90C3-4DB1-8EAB-8B8B6DE40320.

Took the pipe off again then to give it to a friend who is going to run a bead of weld around the pipe so I can clamp on my rubber pipe but I’m happy with how it fits.

I also got rid of one of the A\C pipes going from the engine bay into the car and ran in the engine loom through the hole which was an absolute pain but it’s done now o_O 309B23F9-B20C-4335-879C-08D0A3B504C4.

    B8A1116F-97B1-419F-BEE7-D6595F09CE3D.

That’s all for now, hoping to underseal above the petrol tank so I can put it back on and see if I can get it swinging :wack:

    I’m back again

Been busy with work the last month so progress has been super slow.

Got a lot of the underneath undersealed, used POR15 and I’m delighted with the result. It’s hard get it in pictures because of my phone that has a potato for a camera but here’s the best I can get 07B97DFF-F148-42BF-A312-C964AD2760B5. 285152FC-B184-4798-8416-906AE5F92AA0.

It’s hard to see but it really looks new and glossy.

I got the back subframe back on then and put back on the calipers B4F47BAE-D810-438C-ABCE-8975883C1353.

That’s as good as it gets for now, I have the front calipers off il paint them as soon as I get time and Iv to modify the seat rails to suit the seats but il go at that next too.

Parts wise Iv ordered wheels which will be here in 6 weeks but more on them when whey arrive

Haven’t posted in a while, I’m in collage so hard get time and money to go at the car, also I’m doing a few track days in my track car but going to stop that now and get back to the laurel :smash:

So I brought it to japfest in September, wasn’t running obviously but I borrowed some wheels and brought it up on a trailer. Was fairly far outside the main show cars because of having to push it into the space but it still got so much attention :D

    84C39A6F-A4AE-4BDB-9761-030A7268650E.
    0E3B97CE-8760-47DF-802F-46EE19F77A45.
The wheels were way too big, had to camber them to the last to make them fit under the arch so it could move :smokin:

It was the week after that then that my wheels came. I had waited for these for so long and here they are....... 9D5416D9-FE55-4CD6-95F0-486D12A51221.

Brand new meisters ;) the picture really doesn’t show how cool these wheels are, they’re still in the box in the corner of my room because I’m afraid to even get tyres on them

So that’s where I’m at, I’ll be doing some bits over the Christmas and my manifold should be here next week so I’ll update more often as things happen :D

haha, fun fact for you - I built that car when it was in England for Karl Farrar - came to me with no engine or box or propshaft, with a white engine bay and someone had butchered the oem front subframe and drilled holes in the bulkhead trying to fit a v8 of some sort. Heres some photos I took when I was doing the work in July 2016.
